This is in response to the post dated Nov. 30 2013. The "Weird Janitor" Mr Sam was dearly loved & is truly missed by all of the students at Guffey who were there when He was. He is not weird just tried to show all of the kids some attention and however he chose to do it unless you had a "Weird Kid" was done so with genuine love for the kids! We miss Him dearly.

Guffey was great except this school had problems unknown to the parent eyes. First off the principal made the students think Guffey was the best school in the district which is not true since all the schools in the foxc-6 school district are wonderful. Plus we had a pledge that went something like this Guffey is the best bettering everyone succeeding together. And the have a crazy art teacher there who made us smell sharpies or we were going to get a phone call home. Also the janitor who used to work there Mr. Sam was weird and would pull little girls ponytails other than that Guffey was fine.
My children attend this school and I couldn't be happier. The staff is great! They are making straight "A's" but still are being challenged at school. All the staff and the kids all seem to get along with very little conflict. Couldnt ask for a better school!
My son attended this school k-4th and I couldn't be happier! He had an IEP for the entire time and this school/staff are amazing. My son was in speech the entire time and just amazing! I highly recommend this school.
My son started at GG Elementary since the beginning. Although many people / experts have "bad mouthed" the Fox School District in general I would have say they are completely wrong in my opinion. Maybe there are more "free lunches" than other districts but is that really a reason to talk down to a school. GG has been a great guiding force behind my son's education. He has excelled in many subjects has loved every teacher has had fun learning loves the before/after school program loves to go to gym class and realizes that GG emphasizes a school of students with "character" in every aspect. We love George Guffey Elementary.
My 18yr old son went to Guffey when they first opened and graduated from Fox Senior this year. He is going on to study Biochemistry the education he has recieved from theses schools has made me one PROUD MOM! That is why my 8yr. old goes to Guffey!
Guffey is the one of the best schools in the district. The teachers give alot of free time for the kids including after school science lab and sports. Our school has earned ' The character of Distiction award for 8 straight years. The principal and teachers are role models for behavior and it shows in teching everyday
My son Thomas was a student and he passed away in the 6th grade. Guffey staff and parents made a great different in the resting of our son. The school even have a tree and a memory plate on the front of the school building.
George Guffy is a wonderful community. Our school has a very diverse socio-economic make up. We all work together to support our school and our kids. Guffey makes school feel like an extended family.
Guffey has great teachers who challenge the children.
We are impressed with the level of education and attention our children are receiving at George Guffey. Our children have attended two top A+ rated schools in Saint Louis and Florida and think George Guffey is doing very well comparably. Would recommend school to other parents living in or moving to the area.
I have had the best time at this school. The teachers have been nice.
I have only had wonderful experiences at Guffey Elementary. I feel my children have received the best education possible from teachers who are very dedicated to their jobs. As a parent I am very glad to see the technology that has been used in the classrooms and know my children were very fortunate to benefit from the e-MINTS classrooms. Thank You Guffry Staff!
I have a 4th grader and 1st grader at Guffey and couldn't be more pleased. The principal has been excellent - very dedicated to the school and students. The school has continually improved each year and I have been very impressed with the technology in the classrooms. We were initially apprehensive about Fox school district but are very happy with Guffey.
Some people have a negative view of schools in Jefferson County. We decided to try out George Guffey and was pleasantly surprised. Our son has attended kindergarten and 1st grade (currently) and for the last 1.5 years we couldn't be more pleased. His kindergarten teacher had a masters in education and was firm and consistent with her students. She even had many students greet her years afterwards at functions indicating how great a teacher she was. His first grade teach so far has shown great interest in our son. The after school program is excellent and offers discounted rates. Don't allow preconceived notions affect your decision until you consider all your options.
My daughter is now a 5th grader at Guffey and my son is in 1st grade. The teachers have been wonderful and have always attended to my own children's needs. The teachers are are very accessible and are willing and able to help in any way. Parents are ultimately responsible for the education of their children and the teachers and staff at Guffey help to make me feel at ease with my decision to put my kids in school at Guffey. Thank you! Parent - Jill Berry
