We moved into the district in 2013. I'm shocked at the low test scores and the fact that over half the students are performing 2 grade levels below where they should be. Frankly I blame much of this on poor parenting and a bad attitude at home towards education in general based on what I see in my neighborhood. But you have no choice besides Cross Keys for your 7th/8th grader unless you can afford private school. My daughter's orchestra teacher routinely spends 30 minutes of every class period yelling - literally voice raised and yelling - at the kids about their lack of effort. She screams my daughter says because the kids are talking OVER her and ignoring her. Her other classes are about the same with teachers who can't get through to the kids. The few students who want to learn have a fairly tough time concentrating over all the racket in classrooms. If you have a choice and your kids enjoy learning and like school (for the most part) choose another community. Not Florissant. We moved here from a suburb in the Parkway school district and I'm very sorry that I chose Florissant. We are moving out as soon as our lease is up.

I am a student that goes to Cross Keys Middle school and i believe that this school is a very great school if you were wondering. I used to wake up and i couldn't bare to have to go to school but as soon as i came into middle school I was fine and still am fine with the fact that i have just woken up and i have to go to school. I am not sure if i would feel this way if it was not for me getting on team Discovery. if you are just now going into middle school i suggest choosing a one year team so you are not stuck with a student or teacher that you dont really like (and yes Discovery is a one year team). I hope this helps to reassure you of any of your doubts of Cross Keys.

This is not a rating but..... i was wondering how good this school is. I am 11 yrs old and i will be entering the 7th grade next year(year 12-13) but my problem is..... i have never in my life attended public school but my mom did all through her life. I just need to some advice from students and parents that attend.... have you had expierence going from private to public? By the way the reason im leaving private is the school i go to now very prejudice and judgemental to kids( Atonement Lutheran School) anyway please hel!!!!!

I am a student going to Cross Keys Middle School and I would like to say that sure its an okay school but Im sure there are many other schools that are better for your child. I am saying this out of experience. I just dont think a rating of 4 out of 10 is very good and I know why. So once again you can pick another school one with a better rating.

I am a student currently going to Cross Keys Middle School. It is a great school and a great school district. I use to hate waking up thinking that I have another school day but now that I attend this school that never happens. The teachers and principals are very helpful. They do whatever it takes to get things done. The security is great too cameras in the halls teachers watching over us three or more security guards and a doorbell so they know can monitor who comes in and out of the building. They also notify parents every 2wks about their childs grades on something they call teleparent. The lunch is great here too.!! I love my teachers principals and my school I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. Also this school scores high on map tests and inspections.

This school is horrible!I have had two children attend there in the last 4 yrs.I am done with public school and this school is my reason why.I agree with all the bad reviews and have also had all the same problems.I do believe there are a few good teachers there but they can't do all alone.Kids get in trouble for things teachers should be handling and backs are turned for the bigger problems it just makes me sick.I have younger kids that will definantly not go there.

I think Cross Keys is a wonderful school. The teachers help u learn better by giving good examples. I thank all of the teachers there for helping me with my work.

Some teachers are really great there. Some not so much. They do have the ability to inform parents in many ways but it actually being used is another thing. I get phone calls that are automated. They're about other students talk about classes my child doesn't have have bad information on them. They state they send home progress reports bi-weekly. I get it form 2 teachers of the core 5 every time. The other 3 barely and 1 of those never. I call to find out information I don't recieve calls back. In all honesty I'd love to move in order to get my child into another district at this time.I feel like I have to fight my child to go to school and fight woith the staff to figure out what happens while my child is there. It's really quite frustrating.

I am not a parent but I have attended Cross Keys for the last two years. I feel as if most parents on the website do not understand what goes on behind the doors of Cross Keys. Both principles and teacher do as much as they can to help the student. They have many ways to inform the parents what grades their child is getting through stepparent phone calls and e-mail. Cross Keys has after school tutoring to help the students in whatever subject they have problems with. Its just up to the students to come and be committed to work and raise there grades. Yes Cross Keys should have better security but they still protect Cross keys as a school and the student. CKMS has cameras in every hall three or more security guards and doorbells so they know who enter. CKMS is a very safe and reliable school.

This school is oblivious to the problems they have this is one of the worst schools any of my 3 children have attended- I pulled both my 7th graders out and they now attend private school.

My family and I are new to the Crosskeys Middle School. Overall I think it is a good school and the principal appear to be very concerned with student's progress. I do have a concern with one of my son's grades he has had an F in a math class since week one. It is now week 8 it is still the same. I feel that you can only do so much from home. It takes concerned and caring teachers to help students reach there goals.

I think our schools should have more psychological counseling for our children. Today s students are very smart when it comes to academics but there social skills are lacking. We have to find a way to teach our children how to be proud of who they are and how to love themselves. I do believe our students are very aware of what is expected of them. But the question is how to get them to apply themselves. With more self awareness more counseling and more positive motivating I think we may have a chance. I know my student will benefit from it. Cross Keys Middle School really needs to increase it's security all over the grounds not just where the buses wait. It's a large campus but these other areas should not be ignored. I think CCMS should decide to go to uniforms. so much time is spent on dress code violations the teachers don't have time for more important issues such as other behavior problems. I have never been in a more noisy school. Most of the students don't speak but rather they yell and argue with each other. It is unnerving to be in the school at all. This is our last year at CCMS. Despite these problems the teachers here are really caring and good.

I think that Cross Keys is spending too much money on security rather than saving that money for after school activites. I am not a parent I am a current student at Cross Keys and my parents and fellow student agree with me that the school is spending too much money on security. My advice would be to hire another security guard. I dont have any problems with any of the teachers with the exeption of a few. Other than that I dont have a problem with anything else. Our daughter and youngest son both attended Cross Keys. Our daughter was a McNorth High School Baush and Lomb medal recipient graduated from the University of Rochester and is now an associate scientist with Wyeth. Our youngest son is completing three engineering degrees at the University of Missouri-Columbia while working full time since his sophomore year as a computer science and engineering consultant to a global corporation. Our children and their friends had ample opportunity to avail themselves of the academic and social opportunities provided at Cross Keys Middle School.
