My son has gone to this school for 2 years. Previously he attended a public elementary school. Currently the school runs about 4 traditional fundraisers a year and students have the ability to opt out for a fee. I love the school. All the teachers and staff are terriffic! The principal has always been very approachable and helpful. In previous reviews that are not as favorable I see the dates are several years ago when the school was quite young. The school has become a well established and very organized institution. The students are expected to treat everyone with respect and to include everyone. There is no bullying or harrassing allowed in any form. In my opionion the shool is a comfortable environment to get an exceptional christian education. And FYI the school is now called North River Christian Academy.

My child has been at Open Door for k-4 k5 and now first grade. They have just taken SAT and can't wait for his outcome. He is getting a superior education. He is enthusiastic about learning. I would say he is reading on at least a 5th grade level! This is an amazing school not to mention the good citizenship that is promoted there.

My child is in the daycare program at Open Door and seems to be happy. I believe his teacher does the best job she can do; however they definately need more teachers per class. In the Toddler-2 class their can be up to 14 kids (2 and 3yr. olds) for one teacher. Many times we have gotten home things that do not belong to my child or do not get back things we send to class. I believe the teacher does a great job but may be overloaded with all those kids. The price of daycare is very cheap so I guess 'you do get what you pay for'.

I completely agree with the other review. I am pleased with some aspects of Open Door and very concerned with others. My child is in 5k and loves her teacher this year (the third teacher this year!) Teacher turnover is a big problem as is the number of fundraisers each year. The principal is very harsh and definitely has a 'can't be pleased attitude'. This is probably the reason for the high teacher turnover. While I have been pleased with my child's education and social development so far I will be glad that she will be old enough for public school this fall.

My children have attended Open Door Christian School and Day Care for several years now. As with any school there are some things that I feel could be improved upon but overall I am pretty satisfied. My children receive a high quality Christian eduacation. My first grader enjoys reading Fortune magazine and knows her multiplication tables! Children are taught to be loving and respectful. The school enforces their discipline policy. Improvements are needed in extra-curricular activities teacher turn over quantity of fundraisers and the principal. It is a small school so traditional sports are not really an option but it would be nice to have dance or band. 6+ fundraisers each year. Principal has a 'can't be pleased' attitude. There are a few teachers who have stayed for several years and they are wonderful!
