This is our first year at Pinecrest with our son in 5th grade. We were looking for a small class sized Catholic based school for our son to grow with thru his high school years. The Pinecrest Family is amazing. Everyone is so helpful and caring. If I ever have a question I never have to reach far to find help and support. We look forward to spending 8 great years at Pinecrest !!!

We just started our fifth year at Pinecrest and have two high school students. I would not have my children anywhere else for many reasons. Pinecrest's AP pass rate average over a 5-year period is 87% surpassing Georgia's pass rate of 55%. Pinecrest's average SAT score for 2012 was 1769 beating both Georgia and National scores. But it's even more than the academics. The campus atmosphere is steeped in the Catholic faith in values and in virtues - thanks to all of our incredible principals and faculty who teach our children to embrace faith truth service to others and strong values as they grow in their relationship with Christ while excelling in the classroom. The sacraments are always available and we have three wonderful priests at our service. Something that struck me from the first year we arrived was the tradition of a Senior Mission Trip. Every spring our seniors travel to Nicaragua to serve the poorest of the poor. Many do this in lieu of a 'fun' beach vacation. From PreK3 through 12th grade Pinecrest students are loved and challenged and developed into strong Christian leaders. We are so blessed to be here.
Pinecrest Academy is a great school because of it's academics and faith-based formation. The younger students gain a solid foundation in core subjects foreign language and religion as well as and strong character development. The middle and high school students are well-prepared for college. The students (and parents) have a wide-range of apostolic service projects available to serve others. The "family atmosphere" is like no other school around!
We have had our children at Pinecrest Academy for 6 years and have been in love with what Pinecrest offers ever since! Pinecrest Academy's Academic Curriculum is fantastic. Both our children have received the individual Academic attention they need to excel in all areas of learning. The campus is filled with parents who share the same parenting values that my husband and I share. It has been a pleasure meeting people who simply want a good education for their kids without all the worries and concerns associated with sending your children to school these days. There's no texting tweeting instagramming or posting going on in any of our 3 campuses during school hours. School is for learning and participating in our full line up of Athletic offerings. Our son is a Football and Lacrosse player and our daughter is passionate about Cheerleading Gymnastics & Piano (yes we have a great Pinecrest band). We just can't say enough about how happy we are to have found such a wonderful school like Pinecrest Academy!
My daughter started at Pinecrest in the 8th grade and is now a senior. She has loved her years here at Pinecrest and has done exceptionally well academically. (Making 4's & 5's on all of her AP exams.) She is definitely prepared for college next year! She has been challenged encouraged and loved by her teachers. It is obvious that the principal assistant principal and teachers truly care about their students. She has met wonderful friends here and has been able to grow in her relationship with Christ in such a beautiful way. Pinecrest Academy is known for being one of the best Catholic schools in the country and now I know why from experience. I highly recommend Pinecrest to anyone interested in not just a good but a GREAT Catholic education!
Pinecrest Academy is celebrating 20 years and has grown into a great school. They have the highest SAT scores in the county - and higher than any public district in the state. They offer 22 AP courses and 83% of their students pass the exams (compared to 57% in the state of GA). My lower school children are loved and known. They are taught strong academics (we came from public school and they are far more challenged here). It also bring me great confidence that Pinecrest has been a Top 50 Catholic High School for six years! The teachers and staff love my children and my family. We have found our home.
As parents of two young children we were not sure about sending them to a private Catholic school. All we knew is that we had very high standars and very high expetations for whatever school they were going to attend. I am so pleased to say that Pinecrest Academy has not only met but exceed most of our expectations. It has proven to be very well rounded in all areas of formation. We are very happy with the Academic Curriculum and that our children's emotional and spiritual needs are being fed as well. This can be contributed to the amazingly gifted and loving teachers. The Campus atmosphere is a beautiful safe and family friendly enviorment with parents always welcome and ready to help out. Our family feels very good about our decision to send the children there and plan on being part of the Pinecrest family until Graduation.
We have had children at Pinecrest for 4 years and couldn't be happier. The academics and formation at the school far surpass our expectations. We feel so greatly blessed to be able to give our children a solid foundation that will help them throughout life. The parents are all very involved and in tune with their children and the teachers want nothing but the best for each and every student. To comment on the other reviews saying that many of the teachers have children at Pinecrest YES that is true. After many of the teachers were hired they realized what an amazing school Pinecrest is wnad wanted their children part of it. If you send your kids to this school you won't be disappointed!
It does seem unprofessional. I feel as though the Forsyth high schools (Lambert West and South) have a wider selection of classes (such as IB programs dual enrollment ect.) and a real world environment. Also my daughter also mentions that there is a really bad bullying problem especially if one looks different (culture race looks etc.) I'm probably going to transfer my kids to a Forsyth school after this year. Although I think the lower school is fantastic! Its best if you put your child in lower school so that he/she can be prepared (academically and morally) for public middle and high school.
Absolutely agree with previous comment. Our family found the upper school administration in general to be unqualified and unprofessional. In junior and senior years if your student is more of an average student and not enrolled in Honors or AP courses the standards are ridiculously low assignments are waived and tests are exempted. At this point I am VERY nervous that my child will not be prepared for college.
We are not returning to Pinecrest next year. We found the upper school administration to be overly amateur and unprofessional. Some of the teachers are great but many teachers seem to be hired because they are also Pinecrest parents. Lower school teachers and administration were excellent but I would discourage anyone from sending their children to the high school. There is a great emphasis on sports and cheerleading while academics and academic clubs are a poor substitute for the public schools. In the upper school when students are struggling in class standards are lowered assignments are waived tests are exempted. We found the lower school academics and standards to be outstanding. In short ... if you're going to the lower school it's a safe healthy environment. If you're going for middle or high school you'd be better off elsewhere.
Pinecrest Academy has been a gift to both our children and to our family. The school has excellent academics and has challenged our children at every grade level. The teachers are all dedicated to their students and do a great job in teaching both boys and girls in gender separate classrooms. As boys and girls learn differently I wanted to make sure that my boys did not get left behind as most schools teach primarily the way girls learn. As my sons have grown they have developed a love for learning that was heretofore not evident. My children also get a chance to participate in Athletics at a high level and are learning to play well give their best to Christ and understand what sportsmanship is. The school has really focused on maintaining their academic excellence and are continuing to grow programs in the high school to give my children the best opportunity to succeed in college and in life. The school is committed to developing Christian Leaders that can help lead our country forward.
Private tutoring is encouraged due to the lack of progress for many students. This school also has a huge bullying problem to the point that even employees of the school have withdrawn their own children. Administration is unwilling to deal with or even discourage bullying. The culture of this school is very high pressure and high frustration for many students. Many families have left the school over these issues during the past few years.
A great place to work and a top notch school. Focus is on our mission "forming Christian leaders" through knowing and living Christian faith academics arts and sports. I have seen the school grow in all of these areas with a constant focus on doing the best for our students. We have a nationally recognized band (playing at Carnegie Hall in April!). We have had the top SAT score in Forsyth County for the past two years. We just celebrated 3 of our student athletes accepting athletic scholarships for college. check our website!
I am a current student at pinecrestacademy and I love it ! Pinecrestacademy is an amazing place with outstanding people. I have friends now that I know I will have forever. We have such a special bond because of the separations of boys and girls. Not to say I have amazing guy relationships. We look at each other as brothers and sisters. Nothing more nothing less. I will be at PA as long as the good lord let's me stay!
Teachers and Principal are very good but the administration is terrible and unfortunately both need to be run by professionals in order to succeed. I thought Pinecrest was a Catholic Private School but it has shown us this last year that it is just a private school business. We hope that with Fr. Robert Presutti new head of the school Pinecrest becomes again a Catholic School.
Pinecrest stands as one of the 50 top Catholic Schools in the Nation with students scoring the highest SAT score in the state for a few years. Academically the teachers and curriculum meet new students where they are and bring them to a higher levels to prepare students for top notch colleges. The formation of each student is intertwined with students leading the way to serve the community. Students earn community service hours on and off campus individually and in groups learning the importance to reach out to others and lend a helping hand. Check out the open house Jan. 9th from 1-4PM!
From one who relocated to GA from a (northern state) nationally recognized public school with significantly above average standardized test scores with respect to Pinecrest I was disappointed in the lack of organization and professionalism of the teachers. Most teachers are parents of PA students. I withdrew my children from PA due to the overstressed and frustrating environment. The teachers push paid afterschool tutoring in every subject because of their lack of teaching skills. What are the teachers creditials? I ve looked and asked and received nothing of substance. I withdrew my children at the beginning of a week and put them into the local public schools; Immediately I found the Forsyth Cty schools taught above the curriculum and was 1-1 1/2 years more advanced than PA. Little do the PA parents know what they are missing from the excellent local public schools. BTW the public schools are extremely academically advanced and safe.
From someone who has experienced a really top-notch public school for the last few years I can tell you that Pinecrest Academy excels academically ethically and spiritually. Elementary students are exposed to a wider and deeper vocabulary science history and even World Language(s) education that a public school education could not provide. After all where is the time in a public school setting when from January to April students are drilled on what to expect on CRCT's and EOCT's. Pinecrest provides an Excellent Classical Education that is infused well with social and ethical teachings through rich faith based formation programs at all levels. Classes are small and the atmosphere joyful! Everyone knows everyone and genuinely cares. Compare the tuition cost to what you save in clothes school events and your child's future college tuition! AP and SAT scores speak for themselves! The campus is a pearl in this growing urban area.
I taught at the school for years and have watched students graduate and go into the world not only prepared academically but with the intregrity and enthusiasm of living what is right because they know what IS right.
