It seems like a lot must have changed from the older ratings on this site. My son has been at Baines for the last part of 6th grade and is now in 7th. We have had no problems at all and really like the school. He has excelled in band and his teachers are communicative and supportive. They have enough events at the school to keep us busy but not overwhelmed. He is in all GT classes but the homework has not been too heavy of a load. Only one complaint is that his teachers are not always quick to reply to emails I send them... some never reply. BUT on the good side they do send out emails to keep parents informed about what is going on week by week and then if there are changes or concerns that come up.

My family have had a great experience while our boys were are Baines Middle School. The Sixth grade experience was a smooth transition because of the organization and great communication from teachers to parents on a weekly basis. I would not hesitate to recommend this school to anyone.

I have visited and observed on several occasions all the programs at this school. Everything I saw was in excellence.

Despite being in a wonderful neighborhood this school is a nightmare. They bus students in & brutal fights occur. It is no a healthy environment for learning. It is worth moving out of sienna to avoid this school.

As of this writing 10/3/11 I am happy with my 6th grader's progress both socially and academically. The communication via weekly bulletins from team leader is wonderful. I know every Friday what has and what will be going on each week. So far so good. I heard horror stories about what we should look forward to in Baines and was thinking i was going to have to have a back up plan (private school).

They flat out just don't care here. Good overshadowed by the bad. Cattle processing at its best. Top down failure. Proud of their mediocore status.

Hey I'm a student at this school and I really wish I weren't...the environment is loud the students are rude and fights occur on a weekly basis. The only good points are that the school is new. The teachers aren't all that great and don't really teach you what you need to know (save for a few).

Baines is a school filled with many teachers that don't care about our kids. It is a horrible learning environment and a school for underachievers. They teach our kids to be mediocre and are setting them up for a future filled with failure. This school needs new staff morals values and a serious rain check.

HORRIBLE school HORRIBLE administrators HORRIBLE neighborhood HORRIBLE people in general. My Family moved because the area is just plain HORRIBLE!!! Don't walk away run! Don't let them ruin your kids...

I think Baines is an excellent school. I agree with some of the reviews that it is overly crowded and there are some teachers who dont care. With that being said you will find teachers in every school who dont care and it's all about the money. As a parent get involved communicate with the principal and if that does not work call the district. Ive had to make some phone calls to address concerns and trust me it makes a difference. No matter how much money you spend you will always have the teachers who dont care. Get involved make a difference in your childs education. There's not very many public schools that are worthy.. Baines is a good school!

I love this school! I moved to Sienna just for the great schools! The amenities in Sienna are a plus too but my main concern is for my child to get a quality education from teachers who truly go above and beyond and those teachers are in Sienna schools!

We were very disappointed in this school. We moved to Sienna in part because of the neighborhood schools but this school is so huge that you lose the sense of community. There were conflicts between Sienna kids and kids bussed in from other areas and violence was common. My son was randomly targeted and although the administration responded amazingly fast to expel the kid we were never comfortable again. We have moved him to a great private school which made all the difference. Too bad we have to spend all that money on something that should be provided in an area like Sienna Plantation. Our younger son will be going to Quail Valley GT Academy. We would never consider Baines again for our family.

I reaaly appreciate the band teacher my grandson has. He has really developed an interest and love of music and has found an outlet to be creative.

I like are school it's great ! belive me when people say the teachers dont care your wronge its most of the kids relly i hear them say im not ganna do kind of thing.

Everyone talks about the teachers caring. The teachers at Baines do care. The question is do the parents care or do the kids care? Parents and students also contribute to the school. Take responsibilty and quit blaming teachers. It really gets old.

    Band program is excellent!

I honestly believe that the principal is a bit aloof as far as being part of the school's climate is concerned. He seems very inaccessible. I say this as a concerned parent because a great leader yields an even better school environment.

This is a great school! We had one bad teacher in 3 years. She was the worst and shouldn't be teaching. Besides that the staff and faculty are so involved and stay on top of the dress code bullying etc. I enjoy volunteering and I stay active as a parent. I have 2 middle schoolers there and it's been our pleasure to attend Baines. I've learned the concept of accepting diversity through my middle schoolers. )

Baines is an awesome school.Yea sure. We do have trouble makers but the teachers care a lot about us.(Well some of them.) and Lake O sucks! its ghetto. and im black.and im saying that because a lot of my friends from church go there. I rather be at Westbury Christian or Imani.I liked private school. =)

I know that this school has some 'troublemakers' but what school doesn't? We have amazing sports fine arts and academic programs. If you look into a classroom you will be greeted by a rainbow of (99.99%)friendly kids. Teachers do care about their students but the students have to be willing to learn or to make progress as a person which I believe that every human (deep deep down) wants and needs to do.
