Great to see the test scores added but if the great school folks came to see what we were doing they would see we are far above a 2. Because all of our students are Deaf most are Limited English Proficient. Having a positive index +23 shows we are pulling up the standards of learning for Deaf students throughout California.

California School for the Deaf has given my children many opportunities to grow and learn! They have full access to their natural language and they are expcted to learn just as everyone else in any regular public school! As a parent I am welcomed on a daily basis to all programs my children's classes and to partake in committees and share my ideas for improvement and growth! There is not another school that I would want my children to attend!

I can't imagine a better school than CSDF to place deaf children in. The education system there is top-notch and I pray that any parents with deaf children will consider CSDF first thing before placing them in mainstreamed schools.

CSD addresses each child's individual needs and makes language and communication a priority via American Sign Language+English bilingual instructional strategies. We search out and implement innovative practices and are always striving to make our school site the best academic and social environment for deaf students and their families. We are also fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools & Programs for the Deaf. Our academic career athletic guidance counseling and residential programs enable students to develop life skills which allow them to be successful and competitive in the majority culture that they face on a daily basis out in the world. Our parent education program provides support sound information and guidance in how to raise a healthy deaf child. Our students come back year after year to visit us and many stay connected to our school and community. I have been a teacher here for many years and have visited many other school programs for deaf students and it is still clear to me why the California School for the Deaf in Fremont maintains its stellar international reputation.

As a graduate then a parent of a child attending CSD then an employee I can say with certainty this school is the cream of the crop if not the cherry. There's not enough time or space here to describe what they do for the students AND the parents. CSD understands the confusion parents have over their child's education so they spend time with parents keeping communication lines open offering ASL classes so families can communicate with each other and just so many things. How CSD interacts with supports and encourages the parents is amazing. And that's just one small factor of CSD's character. The other thing? CSD recognizes each child is different but they all deserve and are expected to do and be their best. Teachers are genuine and take their responsibilities to heart. The majority of students respect each other and the staff and differences are put aside to focus on the students. If you have any other doubts consider this. CSD received a full 6 year's accreditation from WASC...during a year when staff were out almost 1/4 - 1/2 the time due to forced furloughs from the required by the Sacramento Government That in itself should say something.

California School for the Deaf is where Deaf children come to LEARN EXPERIENCE and THRIVE in a positive nurturing environment rooted in Deaf culture and American Sign Language. Students are empowered with a strong Deaf identity literacy and language skills as well as technological skills to help them become contributing citizens in the world. This is a great place to work.

Great environment for a deaf K-12 student to flourish and be independent due to many wonderful Deaf role models at the campus. Where else can a deaf student interact with her deaf peers? Where else can a deaf student communicate without relying on the interpreters? Where else can a deaf student experience the true Deaf culture? Where else can a deaf student thrive through a well recognized school internationally? I may be biased mainly because I am a teacher at this school yet I have traveled over 60 countries and visited many schools. Almost of all encounters that I've met at the deaf schools they have heard of this school and are striving to learn more resources from here!

CSD Fremont is an amazing school like no other. It has an army of dedicated staff who look at improving our students' "whole person" including their academics social emotional needs expanding their world knowledge and confidence to go on to become leaders in their community and world at large. I am so proud to be part of a community of educators and learners who have such a commitment to excellence. All deaf and hard of hearing students in Northern California should be coming to CSD. Many people I run into think that since it is such an excellent school and provides so much to the students/families that there is a tuition for families or that parents need to pay for room/board if they live far. This is NOT TRUE! IT IS 100% FREE EDUCATION for deaf/hoh students. Come by and see for yourself what an amazing school it is. I wish my children were deaf so they could come to CSD. It truly is like no other school I know. (This is an anonymous posting so no I'm not getting a raise for this post. Ha!)
