The after school program needs a new Director. Poor communication disorganized inappropriate language to staff and students.

If I could rate the teachers alone it'd be 4 and a half star. All the teachers my children have had have been cooperative and have kept great communication with me as the parent. However parents are uninformed of what is and is not happening on the playground at lunch time. There are not sufficient activities or playground equipment for the children. Kindergardners and 1st graders often get yelled at and blown the whistle on while waiting to go out to recess for no apparent reason other than they've been waiting toooo long to go out. They literally wait up to 10 minutes in the hallway. I have addressed these issues with the school district and the vice principal actually got upset with me for doing so. Security for the school has improved dramatically with the change of principal. However he is not as involved with parents as the previous one was.

My children are attending McKinley elementary school. Their new teachers are great. But the appearance of the school needs work. The grass is dead and theres no landscaping. Maybe if parents and businesses get involved to help beautify the school.
