California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

Sunnyside is a great school. They are slightly more focused on the medical field. They are largely known for there Doctor's Academy and public Human service programs. They offer a wide range of clubs in which I've seen many parents involved in. They have tutoring programs available before and after school. Sunnyside high school has many opportunities like visiting universities and ivi league schools or going out of town to volunteer as well as volunteering for our community. If your a student that likes to get involved there are many things to choose from at Sunnyside high school.

LOVED sunnyside high school! this school was hands on and dedicated in their students. teachers are awesome as well as staff members. SHS's teachers go out of their way to help a student unlike some of the teachers i had to endure after leaving SHS. i love the fact that SHS academics are higher because when you graduate you know that you're on top of the game. most students barely make it out of high school and brag about getting a diploma. SHS makes that diploma worth it when you get it. SHS YOU ROCK!!!

SHS is currently the largest HS in Fresno Unified. The administration is 'hands-on' and does an exemplary job in providing for the student body both academically and socially. My daughter attended private school K-8 before switching to public ed. She has attended since her freshman year is now a junior and has had some extraordinary teachers; ones who really care and go the 'extra mile.' The teachers are 'true grit!' My daughter has been exposed to much diversity at SHS and has made great friends of many cultures.

Faculty and staff have gone the extra mile in meeting my students needs in and out of the classroom. Administration has been strong and had vision for their students future since the doors opened.

Sunnyside High School is a really good school. It looks like a prison but the school staff are very informative and appear to be very involved where the kids are concerned. I am proud to say my son is a studen there and is still attending he has a 4.0 and is a senior at Sunnyside. He has several favorite teachers there.

I like the community of the school and the staff works well with the students. I enjoy having such a large diversity on campus and seeing all the great differences of students.

Incredible teachers and leadership from administration.

I have found thatSunnyside has met all the needs of my student. I am pleased that all of the teachers we have been in contact with are supportive and demanding in the classroom. Extracurricular activites have been challanging and rewarding for my student. We have been pleased with every aspect of the education provided at Sunnyside HS.

I think sunnyside is a very good school who have teachers and students who care about there grades just like any other school sunnyside has students who have family problems as well as other personal problems. The academics at sunnyside is a lot higher compared to many of the schools in the fresno unified schookl district. many of the people I associate with get really good grades and i associate with people of all different backgrounds educationally and many other ways it has diversity of every kind. Sports that are really something that students teachers parents and people from all of fresno get involved in. Clubs such as AVID Doctor's acadamey MESA and many mnay more are offered these are educational clubs but that is not all offered we believe that fun is allowed so we have other clubs such as volleyball club animie club ski club and many more.

Sunnyside High School is a great school. Many programs are offered to students and many activities are provided also. Almost everything is strong but a problem for me is that for some activities we have to use up our own money to do it. Why can't we get any fundings to support us? And also how can we get to know more things happening in our community?

Teachers at Sunnyside are fantastic! Test scores don't tell the whole story. There are caring loving people who I send my child to be with every day. I have never questioned my decision to send my child to Sunnyside!

This school is great for you kids they help you make sure your child stays in school and on campus and their activities are excellent in ways that draws everyone to want to be involved. The teachers also are great when teaching my child what needs to be taught at the same time making sure they understand!

The above comments came from parents? Look at the test scores we have more to worry about than leaving for lunch!! Teachers at Sunnyside are exceptional mentors who strive to make lessons meaningful in the real world.

I believe there is a rule that only seniors can leave campus for lunch but yet its so easy for even the freshman to leave campus. This is a fact! There should be more watch for the kids.

Great teachers although many are too uptight. Com'on we're not in kindergarten anymore! Many insiggificant rules inforced but overall great school with many great teachers!
