My daughter is currently in fifth grade and has attended Ressie since kindergarten. My son is currently in kindergarten. This has been a great school for my two kids. Their teachers have been top notch and the students are given multiple opportunities to be involved in different programs. If I ever had a concern it was always resolved over a quick email or a brief phone conversation. Ressie teachers want the students to be successful and have a positive school experience. I have witnessed first hand the hours of time these teachers put in to make Ressie a great place to be for our kids! I urge all parents to not complain but just communicate concerns and they will be heard. Parents together with school staff working as a team is how Ressie students will reach high levels! It takes a village. Thank you Ressie teachers keep doing what you do!

This school was a good school with a lot of caring teachers. However the current administration leaves a lot to be desired. The ED/BD kids run the halls destroy equipment and use foul language with no repercussions for their behavior. Thankfully my child is no longer in this environment. I would be very concerned having a child in such an unstable setting 7 hours out of the day five days a week. Someone in the school board needs to wake up and realize this new principal is a joke. The good teachers are all looking for placement elsewhere due to the lack of discipline.

This school is truly devoted to education. I have 2 children currently enrolled. My son is receiving FREE tutoring from the school this year. The administration is attentive and the teachers go above and beyond. I am a member of the PTO at the school and I am amazed by the wonderful activities and what they do to promote education among the students. It's a challenging enviroment but still fun...not an easy task to accomplish.

I love this school the staff the PTO- I'll have a 5 & 7 yr old attending the fall of 2010.

If the parents would help more we can make a differance. My 5 year old is super smart her teacher is the best. All the staff has been so nice. I really think kids will be more involed if parents would be.

My son attends Ressie Jeffries and it is a fantastic school! All of his teachers have been very helpful and the administration is great! My son is challenged everyday and I am very thankful that he goes to such a great school!

I have 2 children which attend Ressie Jeffries. There are so many HORRIBLE things I've seen at this school it saddens me to have to send my children off to school everyday. Not a day goes by that my children come home and dont have 3-4 bad things to tell about how the day was. The most troubling thing for me is how rude the staff is. How can someone who is rude and disrespectful teach my child any respect and manners? THEY CANT ! I have read some of the post left here and I agree the parents do need to be more involved BUT who wants to deal with a bunch of rude people? I dont! You're correct parents need to be involved in getting this school new staff.

I have recently moved to Front Royal VA and my child has started Ressie Jeffries this year as a Kindergarten student. The teachers at this school have no patience for their younger students and act as if they are bothered that a parent wants to be involved with how their child is doing in school. The office staff is extremely rude as well ! The teachers act very unprofessional and will gossip about students and parents as if the school is a set for a soap opera. Almost all of the staff at Ressie Jeffries has lived in this small town all of their life and here everyone knows everyone. If you are new to the town and not like 'them' then you will not be treated very friendly. I do not recommend this school to anyone that wants a good education for their children

My oldest has been at Ressie for almost 2.5 years (3rd 4th and now 5th). My youngest has been at Ressie for almost 1.5 years (K and now 1st). All of their teachers have been excellent and very responsive. I participate in the PTO and do other volunteer work but I really wish more parents came out to PTO meetings and helped out with stuff that really isn't that hard. Like another parent has said things can't improve and things can't get done unless we all pull together and do the gruntwork. It has been my experience that the majority of the staff is helpful and willing to do whatever is necessary; however not enough parents seem interested in the improvement of the school and the education of their children and that is sad.

I have two children who were enrolled at Ressie Jeffries Elementary just this past year. Being we were new here I had some worries as any parent would coming into a new school. All my fears were laid to rest. My kids have adapted greatly to this school and thanks to the awesome teachers they both have they have done great in their academics and social skills. Both of my children were involved in extra-curricular activities here as well which has not only helped them socially but it also has built their self-esteem up more. I must add that the PTA here has worked hard and has been so involved in doing things for the students and teachers and should be applauded. Our experience here has been nothing but positive. Volunteering or taking opportunities when feasible to spend time w/your children at school may change the negative.

I came to Ressie 3 yrs ago I now have 3 children that attend Ressie. I was astonished at the level of Parent participation at PTA meetings classroom parties paper pushing etc. In my opinon parents need to more involved with what is going on at their child's school. We all work long hours and drive a terriable commute but sitting back complaining about every little thing is not going to change it. If you want Ressie to become a 'better' school than come see all the good things 99% of the staff and parent volunteers are doing for your children and offer to help in some way. I encourage all parents to come inside Ressie for a day and look at all aspects of your childs day before writting harsh things about it. I have also had my ups and downs but I continue to push for more ups and better enviroments.

I have had children at Ressie for 5 years and have not had a problem yet. I do think there is room for improvement where parent participation is concerned. I know different people have different views on the school but I myself love it.

My son is in second grade. He enjoys going to school. He had excellent teachers in Kindergarten and First grades. His second grade teacher is new. She is very enthusiastic creative and organized. All of his teachers have been willing to talk whenever I had any questions. I am very pleased with his experience at Ressie. This school is Fully Accredited.

Teacher and Principal miss opportunities to use situations as a teaching tool. Children are labeled pretty quick as 'discipline problems' especially very young children. A child cannot be continually told he is wrong bad and given no leeway before he will feel that no matter what he does it will never be good enough. I think this is indicative of a very narrow unimaginative and less than creative teaching environment if the only solution for a kindergarten age child is to segregate him/her from the class - how in the world do you expect them to learn not only how to change their behavior but their standard school requirements. I rate this school very poor.

The worst of schools. The principal is an egomaniac with a 'click' type following in the staff who are disrespectful to students school has no decent teaching programs few teachers actually like children most want job to be off in the summer. The vice principal of last year (2004) was the best and most concerned but wasn't in the 'click'. Grading system is fudged to move students through who can't actually read write etc. but make the percentile to put school in newly gained 'accredited' status (meaning nearly JUST over 70% passed while nearly 30% failed). Complaints to schoolboard are consistently ignored. I've been a parent for over 4 years and have seen the worst type of disgrace to small children who are being belittled yelled at told to 'shut up' called names by TEACHERS who gossip about children and parents including the 'professionals' such as counselors and therapists. HORRIBLE SITUATION

Very poor school one of the worst in Warren County! We have had 1 decent year there out of 4 years. It is only October but so far this year is terrible. There was a great Assisant Principal who would help parents & children solve issues but Warren County doesnt like people like that so she is gone.

The educational system here at Ressie Jefferies is mediocre at best. My child struggled through kindergarten and 1st grade. 2nd grade was better due to a wonderful new teacher. This year is not so great the teachers are in threat of losing their jobs if they do not pass the SOLs by 100%. So in turn they are forcing our children to work extremely hard and cut their lunches down to 20 min. a day in order to utilize that extra time for more studying. I believe it too much to take as a parent due to most of us have to work such long hours. Where do we find the time?
