This is our families 5th year at Buckland Mills. While I love the teachers and believe whole-heartedly that they want to do what's best for the students I don't think that is the concern of the administration at all. The administration is more concerned about SOL scores receiving School of Excellence awards and how the school "looks" rather than the actual needs of the students. The new principal is less than stellar and does not take well to questions. She is not genuine at all. I think she could care less what parents think or have to say. Buckland Mills is not the school it once was. But with a few exceptions the teachers are amazing!

This is our 4th year in this school and has been seeing major improvements every year. This past year they have built the learning garden where kids can do organic gardening. The principle is wonderful and very student oriented. This is the only school in the county that teaches Chinese as a second language starting Kindergarten. The teachers are wonderful and very caring. The PTO is excellent and organizes a lot of extra activities for students.

To September 30th...unfortunately I agree with you. The office staff is not what it use to be and the yearbook pictures are questionable. Out with the old and in with the new...I miss the old!

'way' over populated bullying 'questionable staff asking my child too many personal questionable about mommy and daddy'. the year book is total published to a staff family member does not take much to look who's kid(s) is on just about every page. I pulled my kid out. they are face value. now some of the teachers are awesome and that is a lottery. I would clean out that whole front office with the exception of maybe 3 people.

In response to the Oct 12 review I beg to differ completely. I still like the office staff and my girls do miss Ms. Alma but Ms. Snow is a great replacement. I guess its difficult to please everyone

Unfortunately I have to agree with the August 9th post this school consistently tolerates bullying. And yes I've also seen well known bullies get citizenship awards--it's outrageous! I'd also add that this school does a terrible job at acknowledging hard working students. There was no end of the school year award ceremony and students getting all A's for the ENTIRE YEAR did not receive a public recognition for their hard work. I think kids who work that hard deserve to be recognized. When my child first started at this school a few years ago it was rated an 8 on greatschools.org it's now a 6. That says it all!!

This school is overcrowded. The administration is not professional or responsive. They are complacent when dealing with bullying behaviors. They allow bullying to continue even giving a child known to bully on numerous occasions involving different kids awards that require good behavior.

My daughter is in Kindergarten and she can already read need I say more. I was really amazed how fast she has excelled in this school.

We LOVE Buckland Mills! Our children had been in private schools prior to Buckland Mills and I am totally impressed with the education they are receiving. From the administrators to the teachers everyone really cares about the students and go the extra mile. They have a reading team that screens all the students throughout the year to make sure each child is making progress and to amke sure that all students needs are being met. The PTO is amazing and offers many free events to families and really do a lot for the school. It really feels like one big family. The school is overcrowded but a new school is bring built in 2 years to help with that. I just hope we get to stay at Buckland Mills. I wouldn't want my children anywhere else!

The school is well run and has an excellent PTO with parent involvement. The new principal is very warm and seems to be a great addition to the school.

I have notified GreatSchools that the enrollment number listed here is way too low. Buckland Mills has well over 1 000 students and is grossly overcrowded.

My son transferred to this school in fifth grade. All of the staff adminstration and teachers have all been wonderful. Everyone is so friendly helpful organized and warm. I truly feel like I'm in a close-knit family! My son has really blossomed academically and truly loves his teachers and classmates. I only wish he could have been at this school sooner. I would highly recommend this school--in fact I brag about it to everyone I know!

We relocated here 3 1/2 years ago. We currently have 2nd and 4th grade boys enrolled. We have been extremely happy with the quality of teachers especially Mrs. Greer and Mr. Jacks. They are so involved in everything that happens at this school. We've had some issues with a bully this year that wasn't taken care of to our liking but overall the teaching and attention to students is excellent. We'll be moving in a couple months and hate to leave this school that has done so much for our children!

This school is awesome! Our daughter is thriving in the 2nd grade with Miss Coblentz. We transferred her out of her base school to Buckland Mills so she could take advantage of the new IB PYP that is happening . She is happy and thriving again. We love it there! Principal Greer and Assistant Prinicpal Jacks are so involved with the children. The smart board technology is amazing - Mrs. Greer connects with all of the kids via the Smart Board every AM. the technology is hands down the best as are the teachers! I would highly recommend this school and often do! I am so glad we transferred our daughter here. Keep up the great work!

My son a 4th grader is very happy and challenged by the quality of the education at BMES. He is also in the SIGNET Program which allows him to be exposed to other subjects. I am glad to be living in the BMES school district.

I can't agree more with the comments already posted. Mrs. Greer the Principal at BMES is fantasitic and very well respected by parents students and teachers alike. Because the school is brand new it has the latest technology computers smart boards you name it. The staff and teachers are fantastic and my children truly enjoy going. Although the school is new the PTO is doing a great job bringing the families students and faculty together for special events and fundraisers that everyone seems to enjoy. Finally the school doesn't suffer from over-crowding right now unlike all of the other schools in the area where your child will undoubtedly end up in a trailer during his/her stay. Go Wildcats!

Our daughter just completed 1st grade and we've been thrilled with every experience we've had at Buckland Mills. The 1st grade team is second to none! The technology level at Buckland is leaps and bounds above every other school (public and private) in Prince William County. With the addition of the International Baccalaureate program for the fall this school is a force to be reckoned with! My spouse and I can not thank the staff and teachers enough for their dedication.

Brand new school my daughter attended 2nd grade for 06-07 year and I have another entering full-day K for next year. The principal and teachers are completely involved and caring to all the student's needs. The students have laptops rolled into the rooms (one per student is provided) smart boards are in every class room there is a story room library and attentive staff that knows each child that attends. The ladies are busy but helpful in the office the counselor is excellent the special areas are attended to and Mrs. Greer is involved and attentive. I can't say what a great experience we have had with PWC and especially BMES! Mrs. Howland is wonderful.
