My school is Awesome! The teachers and staff are the best ! My kids are excited to go to school each day and look forward to seeing their peers and teachers. This lets me know that my kids are in a safe learning environment. I love when my kids come home and can teach me something new that they learned that day. I'm extremely happy with Greenwood Elementary as far as my kids education and learning is concerned.

Im not happy with this school at all some of the staff is very rude speak they don't even part their lips some look at you like your crazy my child has been attending this school for 2 years and it really all been the same way...if your child is fallin behide they will set up a child study meeting but to me its a waste of time feel as lf the same thing is being said on repeat at the meeting they say their doing this and that but yet no change in child maybe a little change but nothing major its very frustrating for me as a parent of a first grader and really do know what other options I have to help child to be successful they don't offer any only the same one that's been given over and over.

The teachers are very attentive and patient with the youngest children. Our granddaughter will be entering 2nd grade and is looking forward to it.

This school is amazing. I share custody with my ex husband and now live in Hanvor. Had she been going to any of the other schools in Henrico I would have pulled her out right away. However Greenwood is a wonderful school and have staff that truly care for there students! This school deserves anything that can help make them even better.

The school definitely lacks communication. Leadership and parent involvement are disorganized. There is no school website or Facebook page a necessity these days with social media. There are some excellent teachers who are very caring and organized. We have had a great experience with our teacher this year. I think the school needs to move with the times a bit keep parents informed and the school would much better serve our children!

This school lacks organization and leadership! I'm not surprised to see the test scores and GreatSchools rating drop. The poor communication is probably a leading factor for the lowered rating. We never know about happenings around the school until the day prior to the event and/or assignment... makes it hard for a working parent to plan. On top of this the website is rarely updated . events from January are still listed at the end of February. We have a kindergartener at Greenwood and have seen her digress in all areas; academic behavioral etc. since starting here... it is sad when a daycare is more successful at teaching. I understand that some of these issues could be on a micro level (our teacher) however I do believe it starts at the top and that there is a serious lack of leadership. I have not seen much interaction between the principal/teachers and principal/parents. Henrico is known for their great schools and this is one they should take a serious re-evaluation of before it s too late (and parents should demand this)! We will not be returning to Greenwood next year.

The principal is non chalant and also the teachers are very non chalant.( fifth grade teachers). They do not call you when you're child is falling below or even try and offer they're help at the end of the day. When you do call to see how your child is doing they have a meeting to go to constantly and never set up a time for you all to meet. As a parent we not able to be with our children 24/7 like in the past when women did not have a job. Parents are working these days and we pay our tax dollars for non caring teachers who just brush our children off and is too busy to bring this to an attention of a guidance counselor themselves. My child is just another number in this school they ACT like they want to help but there actions tell a different story. When they do finally talk to a parent they are very rude and disrespectful.

This school currently has a severe deficit in school leadership. Sadly this affects teachers and academics. The administration is in need of some intense training in how to deal with teachers. The games and behind the door dealings should be looked into. What parents see is not what is actually going on. New leadership would be welcomed by staff as they are frightened to say anything due to retribution from the current Principal. I would suggest the local newspaper do a thorough investigation since Newport News Human Resources and the Superintendent refuse to do this.

Not sure why the rating is not a 10 since there are no reviews. My review would be about our great faculty principal and students. But I would also have to say that the designer of our school had not only student learning in mind but also thought deeply about teachers and the staff in putting this school together. I find myself at my desk realizing from time to time that how great the rooms are to be in because of the light from the outside and the way the light fixtures bounce the light on the ceiling that seems to make it easier to read textbooks and see the laptop screens.

I can't say enough great things about Greenwood Elementary. My daughter started KG in 2004 the first year the school opened. We're moving and very disappointed to leave this school. The building is beautifully built with all of the latest technology very clean and organized. There are quite a few after school activities (drama mad science chess club etc.) currently and more to come available in the coming years I'm sure. It was a slow start to the PTA (now established)and activites but the parental involvement is excellent. The principal is wonderful and I have had excellent experience with discipline at this school. Situations are addressed and resolved immediately and the staff is very involved with parents and students. Every teacher I've dealt with has been exceptional and my daughter has really enjoyed them. Parent/teacher communication is excellent. Overall I think this is a top notch school and wouldn't hesitate to reccomend it.
