California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

My 2 children attend Guerneville School and they just love it. The parents in the community are so supportive and active. Because of this the school is able to offer computer lab art music classes garden and many many field trips each year.

I'm not only a parent but I've been a public school teacher for 25 years - so I think I have a very clear two-point perspective when it comes to assessing any school. For added perspective my family and I have lived abroad we've traveled extensively and I've worked in and with many diverse populations. I have to say that moving to Guerneville and having my child in this school was just a bizarre experience. For one thing she just "graduated" from Guerneville Elementary at least I think she did. Even though she was part of the graduating class of 2013 she was never acknowledged during the graduation ceremony nor was her picture even included in the yearbook. And throughout the year she battled through some of fiercest harassment that I've ever witnessed anywhere. All in all it was a heartbreaking experience to endure. I'm so glad we're done with this school. For any parents considering moving to this area and having their children attend this school be wary.

My son is in Kindergarten so this is my first experience with public school. I am so impressed with the staff commitment and care they give to each student even though the class size is 28 kids for one teacher. They work tirelessly with each of them to make sure they The parents of this commnunity are very committed to their kids and many volunteer in the classroom to assist the staff. We have a music program for the kids that is organized by FOGS a parent sponsored non profit that raises money for the music program. I must say must my son's first year at this school has been fabulous.

My three children went from K-8 at this school it was wonderful. Small class size lots of individual attention excellant and caring administration. Problem was when they graduated they went to ElMo. Truly a bad experience until I found RR Charter School & RR Ramparts.

My son has been at Guerneville School from Kindergarden thru 3rd grade. Every one of his teachers has been exceptional. The majority of teaching is based on state testing requirements but each teacher has found time for science experiments art projects drama PE and lots of field trips! I have been very impressed with the enthusiasm each teacher brings to the classroom and the well roundness of the school day. The community is extremely supportive which has allowed Guerneville School to have music classes for all grades a computer lab and scholarship opportunites for extended education (which my son participated in) among many other programs. The school has a casual supportive atmosphere. The school could use more parent volunteers and more playground supervision and occasionally there is over crowding in the lower grades. But overall I have been very happy with my sons experience there.
