Fairmount is a great school with teachers staff and parents dedicated to the success of the students. The PTA is also engaged and committed to the school and kids sponsoring activities to foster a school community. I would say that the test scores do not represent the full story at Fairmount.

This school is horrible!!!! Sending my child here was the worst thing I could have ever done. The kids are so disrespectfull and the teachers let them run wild. The school is filty it smells like urine when you walk in by the lunch room and there is litter on the floors in the stairways. The children even write curse words on the bathroom walls. The concerts are so un-organized and the children are realesed at the end of the day to anyone. They do not seperate speacial needs kids from regular students which causes problems. Also the after school program is a bunch of teenagers who could careless about the kids and dont even watch them. I would not recommend this school for anyone. I feel bad for the home owners in this area who have no choice but to send there children here.

My son has been a student at Fairmount since Kindergarten and is now in 4th grade. The PTA is very involved and promotes student/family activities. There is amble opportunity for your child to partake in band music dance or drama clubs which all culmminate in shows for student assemblies and parental after school concerts. My biggest concern however is the discipline procedures. when students are sent to the office for infractions that at times warrant an apology or detention suspension notices are written up and students "interrogated" without parental contact. The principal is a very personable and likable man and has an open door policy. I believe that more males need to be present as there are too many female staff members. Academically Fairmount prepares the students well. The teachers use varying teaching strategies to educate the students. My son was appropriately challenged and pushed academically to achieve above the status quo. The nurturing and charter building staff members provide was of great help. There is a strong sense of family and community involvement here. Overall I find my son's experience to be more up than down. Def. a good starting point.

Fairmount Elementary School has provided my child a great education. Not only do I have high regards for the principle & assistant principal but I do admire the teachers of this school. I am a happy parent!

The Principal Vice Principal and Teachers are extremely hard working and completely devoted to the children. The Principal is honest passionate about allowing the children to have well-rounded educations there not just Test-Taking educations. My kids have shown tremendous growth in their time there and love the learning atmosphere as well as the extra curricular activities. I can't imagine my kids being any where else!

I am a proud Fairmount School parent. My 3 children attended Fairmount. They are well rounded individuals who not only received an excellent education but left there with a strong sense of community and pride. My family is a stronger family thanks to the lessons we have all taken away from Fairmount School.

The teachers are amazing and now in our 5th year (K-4th) my son has had nothing but positive experiences.

This school has a lot of great activities for the students and over all a caring dediccated staff. However I find that they do not really listen to parents who are very vested in their child's education or if they brigns an issue to the table. Administratively they tend to 'nod and wave' then do what they want in their own time. Even fi what was suggested months before was not accceptable because they did not 'think ofit first'.

I was impressed since I went to the orientation night this September. The teachers are so enthusiastic about learning. I was very impressed with the writer's workshop. I have love my son's teacher and assistant teacher. My son is learning so much. The PTA is very involved and a great advocate for our children. Both the principal and vice principal are enthusiastic and advocates for the children.

I have had two children attend Fairmount School in Hackensack. The previous principal seemed to have more of a handle on things than the current principal. I have had meetings concerning my child where suggestions that were supposed to be implemented never were. The teachers are basically okay. This school is mediocre at best. I feel that new programs need to be implemented - something is stale about the formula here. My son's teacher has sent home work that she has corrected where she has mispelled the words. Not good. The music program seems to be pretty good. My daughter was in the glee club which has nice performances. I can not recommend this school he attends because this is in our district but it's not recommended.
