Test Scores by grade

Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA)

In 2011-2012 Pennsylvania used the Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 11 in math and reading, in grades 5, 8 and 11 in writing, and in grades 4, 8 and 11 in science. The results for reading, writing and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The PSSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Pennsylvania. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test.

This school has the friendliest most proffesional staff in the business. In hamburg work comes first then sports and music then clubs. I can t think of anything wrong with this district. There are countless advantages other schools don't offer and you can check them out at the website.

The elementary schools and teachers seem ok. Middle and high school teachers do not seem to care much about what they do. There is heavy concentration and prepping for PSSA to make everyone think the are doing their jobs. By high school ready to pull out my hair as interaction with teachers is limited to a short specific time of day--to their favor. Your child could fail and you will not hear a word. The principals at elem. and high school are a joke. These "men" should be glad they have their jobs as they would never make it outside the school walls. Middle school prin. was pretty ok. Overall I would highly NOT recommend this district. They just do not care about grades.

My daughter graduated from here and I have one more that will have to go through this school. I don't have the best review to write it is a school concentrating on sports more than any other activity but that is not uncommon these days.

The academic programs leave something to be desired in the way of the arts but offer plenty to those more into athletics and sports. The academic programs are standard with friendly interesting teachers.

This school is a joke they spend millions to redo a high school that is an eye sore instead of spending money on class rooms and updating education they spend it on a gym that is still too small to house playoff games. They increase the size of the adminstration office for what? all they do is take up space they don't even know what there job is! I am ashamed to even say I went to this school. The school board is a joke they run for office as long as their kids are in school- to get what they want for their child and then leave after they graduate no wonder no one knows what is going on.

Hamburg Area High School is an ok place to send your child. I think that they concentrate way to much on sports but not enough on the music department. They have one of the best music departments I have seen. They had 3 students make it into district chorus and 2 of those students went on to regional chorus. The band is great also. They had 4 students make county band and 1 make districts. They are a very good musical school and they should put just a little more effort into building a better name for themselves in other things than sports.

Disgusting....probably one of the worst schools you can send your child. Hamburg has some wonderful teachers such as Bickelman Althouse Behm Sakusky Bernet Wolfe and Eisenhuth. Hamburgs admistration is the worst I have ever seen. I feel sorry for any student parent teacher in the district.
