My children attend school at HWME and it is amazing. My children are learning everything they should be learning at their ages and more but at a reasonable pace. My children are excited about what they learn in school about science math and art. The Montessori methods are beautifully implemented in the classroom and the children are taught personal responsibility and to respect themselves others and their environment. I have observed their classrooms on a couple occasions and I was very impressed. Their teachers so far have all been dedicated and caring. They also involve family in fun ways.

Hammond Westside Montessori School is the largest Montessori School in the country. The enrollment is approximately 1200. All of the teachers have completed the required Montessori training and are certified as Montessori Teachers. As all Tangipahoa Schools HWEMS has adopted the Common Core Standards. These academic standards require much more rigorous teaching and learning. Students are asked to think critically write using evidence that she/her reads in the text comprehend at a high level and be able to defend and explain her/his answers verbally and written. Academics standards are set high and are achieved. The school climate is safe friendly and supportive. All of the faculty and staff have read Stephen Covey's book entitled The Leader in Me . The faculty and staff teach and model the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Students are assigned leadership roles in their classrooms as well school wide. Students and parents are offered many other opportunities such as Robotics Club Knit Club All Pro Dad s sports computer music etc. My two grandchildren attend HWEMS and are receiving the best elementary education in the country. Come visit our awesome school!

My son has went to HWM for two years and I am very pleased. He has shown a huge growth in his education. His teachers the past two years have been great and not just as a teacher. They have kept their door open to me at all times. I am so pleased that I am sending my daughter to pre-k next year. The school really cares about its student.

My son has attended Hammond Westside Montessori for 2.years. We could not be happier. He has a wonderful teacher and has flourished under her instruction. The Montessori method works well with his learning style and allows him to think critically and creatively. I applaud the faculty and staff for approching education with the child in mind. Teaching the child not just the curriculum!
