Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS)

In 2010-2011, the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) was used to test students in reading in grades 3 through 9; in writing in grades 4 and 7; in English language arts in grades 10 and 11; in mathematics in grades 3 through 11; in science in grades 5, 8, 10 and 11; and in social studies in grades 8, 10 and 11. TAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Texas. The grade 11 Exit Level TAKS is a high school graduation requirement. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

literally the most awful and i mean most awful school I am currently a junior attending. I just moved here from another city and i just started 3 weeks into the school here. My expectations were high but came out disappointed at the end. The teachers are terrible they dont care about the students they're not helpful whatsever. The staff and teachers are so rude in my opinion. The teachers just dont care and they move too quickly. I dont know. This school is just terrible. The teachers need a reality check. Cant wait to move back to my old school next year!

I am a former student of North Shore Senior High. I graduated in the top 3 percent of my class class of 2007. I rarely did any work honestly if you just behave correctly teachers will pass you. I had some friends who seriously couldn't read and they still graduated. They spend way too much on their athletic programs hence I had to use a 20 year old calculus book they was nearly torn to pieces. Though the orderly structure of the school is good. They do not care about education all that much. I am currently a senior at Texas A&M University @ College Station and would like to express that if you have a choice do not send your child to North Shore High School unless just being satisfactory is what you want.

I have attended every open house and have randomly visited the 9th grade campus 'just because' to see how things operate on a normal day to day routine. I am very impressed with the orderly conduct of the students and the attentiveness of the staff. I am proud of the student body. They appear to be excited to learn and excel.

Very good school with excellent leadership Mr. Moore at the 9th grade campus and Mr. Wallace at the 10-12 campus. Both schools seem to be very orderly and clean every time I visit.

I have always dedicated myself to going to north shore. i am a Junior at this school and as many feel our school has amazing programs. i am current;t in North Shore's Choir and i think it was the best choice i made at the school. North shore is a very diverse school.

North Shore Senior High School is amazingly academically competitive. Also it's huge! At first this was thought to be a bad thing (short lunches and etc ) but it proved to be benefitial towards the lives of the children involved. The mass number of kids caused less fights and more participation in extra-curriculars such as tennis theatre choir band golf... many classes are offered at the Senior High--- which is great due to the high percentage of lower-class teens that go to the school.

I'm a junior here at North Shore Senior High. I like the environment of the school except that I wish there was more academic competitiveness among students.

I am a student at NSHS. I am in my 3rd Year there. I am in ROTC. The instructors there are great. They don't force you to be in the military. They do teach you discipline and respect. They are great. The teachers are great and Most of the principles are nice. I Love the school.

I am a senior here at NSSH. I am in Air Force JROTC and have experienced many adventures and met a lot of students from around the state that share the same interest as me. The program has provided me with discipline and emphasized on character. The instructors DO NOT force you to join the military. They do promote Air Force but for me I am going to the Marines in July. The school is great the district is great and most of the teachers are really cool. Last but definitely not least CLASS OF '07 RULES!

I am new to NSHS. My daughter is beginning her 2nd week at NSHS after being in a private school for 12 years. I was very apprehensive about sending her to a public school. Everyday I am feeling more and more comfortable about NSHS. The first week her english teacher called to introduce herself to me and to give an update about my daughter. I was very happy to know that there are caring and loving teacher in the public school district after hearing otherwise. I will continue to give feedback as the school year continues.
