Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT)

In 2010-2011 Georgia administered the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) in English language arts, math, science and social studies to students in grade 11. The GHSGT is a standards-based assessment, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined by the state of Georgia. Students must pass all parts of the GHSGT in order to graduate from high school. The goal is for all students to pass the test.

I have high hopes for this school for the future. The last two years has been difficult with the new superintentent but now he is leaving. I hope we can get everything back on a positive path.

I am impressed with the new superintendent and the new principal.

Since moving here 2 years ago I have found the Hart Gounty schools lacking in the desire to truely put forth the energy to make sure all the kids are getting the best possible education. For the most part my kids teachers are doing the best they can with what little support they have. I have visted the schools and found fights outside going on and no administraters in sight. In the schools defence looking at the neighboring school system I did not find it much different

I'm a student at Hart County High School. I think that our teachers are great role models. There are a few exceptions but most of them actually care about their students and their acheivements. You couldn't find better teachers anywhere else. The principal needs to get off Broadway and come back to Hartwell. He's not here to put on a show.

I am a student at HCHS;I am in College Prep Courses. I am physically disabled but I am treated just like everyone else. Mr. Grimes is a wonderful principal; the only people that complain about him are the ones that get into trouble. The quality of academic programs is excellent. My favorite class is chorus. The teacher makes the class fun while he is teaching. Mr. Grimes is all about making everyone feel special and he tries to build a good relationship with the students who will allow him to do so. The JROTC Program is a wonderful program. Even if your child doesn't want to join the Military he or she should consider trying JROTC for 1 semester. It teaches leadershihp skills respect for your commmunity and family and to take pride in yourself. I have an older brother who is in the program and he loves it!

Well im a student in HCHS and i think this this school would be so mutch better with good teachers.

To the parent(s)and students that think Mr. Grimes is mean. WAHHHHH poor babies. He is the best thing that ever happened to this school. Maybe he does think he's in the military. Ya know what? That isn't so bad. I was raised military and it was the best thing ever. I did my school work and was proud of myself. Mr. Grimes is the best. He isn't a sissy like our former principal was. He isn't afraid to stand up to the parents or students. Let's just say that Mr. Grimes has b@lls and that is what this school has needed for several years!

As a former student of HCHS I think that Mr. Grimes is the best thing that has happened to Hart County in a long time. He is a much better leader than the past 3 principals we had. The students were getting very disrespectful and rude. Mr. Grimes strict discipline is a very wonderful thing for the school!

The county's school system is not academically challenging...if we hadn't moved I would not have been prepared for Georgia Tech.

Hart County High School is a very good school. Overall the administration faculty and staff are good hard-working people who do their best to provide a good education for their students. As the parent of a recent graduate I can proudly say that my child is doing very well in college thanks to fine preparation at Hart County High School.

Hart County High is making a BIG mistake by keeping Mr. Grimes as the principal. This school is being run by a man who thinks this is a military school. It is not. If Mr. Grimes continues to be the principal the drop out rate will greatly increase. My youngest son is going to the seventh grade next year and when he starts the ninth grade and Mr. Grimes is still there he will be transferred to another school or put into a private school. I know personally of what happens when a principal makes it hard for your child to attend school and is constantly harrassing that student. This has been my experience for the past two years.

I believe that Hart County isn't exactly the best school out there but it's a good one. The teachers are nice and try to get the students involved but the principal on the other hand is a very rude man. I think that if the school got rid of him it would be a very good school.

This school has great programs to involve the students. I have had two chldren in the band program and I think the key to success is parental involvement. Great teacher role models. Just like anywhere else in US you are going to have Exceptions.

I completely disagree with the previous statement. Yes Hart County does have heavy involvement in sports but they are good sports programs! Consistently Hart County ranks in the top 5 high school football teams in the state. Not to mention having beyond excellent tennis golf and baseball teams that also rank in the state. But it's not all about sports the band program is beyond active incorporating 5+ more band programs at once. The DCT drafting auto tech and construction programs are also worth mentioning. All of this I think is due to a staff of excellent teachers. Having gone through 4 years at this school I know first hand. True not every teacher is noteworthy but on a whole they are an excellent batch and we are amazingly lucky to have them at our institution. This is a great school but every school is what you make of it.

I think Hart County High School is among the worst in the state of Georgia. It revolves around the sports which aren't very good in the first place. The teachers are not very helpful and do not take time to interact one on one with my children.

There are many opportunities for my children to get involved in sports clubs dramas and band. Excellent teacher/student involvement. Overall good positive attitude by all.
