Ohlone Elementary has provided my son with a great foundation for his education. He has been fortunate to have some terrific teachers who really care for their students and the school. He has flourished and exceeded my expectations with his education. He is now in the GATE program at school which was made possible through the support of his teachers. The new school building will provide the students staff and parents with a much needed improvement. The students are excited to be in their new environment and I wish that my son would be able to enjoy it too but he will be attending middle school next year when the new building opens. The dedication that everyone has to this school and the students has made this a wonderful experience for me and my son. Parental involvement is of the utmost importance in a child's education and this school encourages the parents to be active participants in all aspects of the educational process. During the almost six years that my son has attended this school there have been three principals yet the transitions from principal to principal has been as easy as possible. In my son's opinion with each principal the school is improving.

Over the past year we have seen a huge improvement with Ohlone. I think we have the new principal to thank for that. She has been a breath of fresh air and the morale is so much better there now. You can see it with the teachers and even the secretary and custodians. The kids love her! My son now wants to go school because he is having fun learning. He loves his teacher and talks about how he's going to give the principal a high five when he sees her. This is big because he used to fight me on going to school but now he's excited about going because of all the fun things they do there now. The teachers seem more caring and the principal really listens to you. I also think parents are doing a really good job too. I don't like the whole volunteer process but I get why we have to be fingerprinted and all that and it seems like we have more volunteers this year now too. I'm much happier with the education my child is getting now at Ohlone.

My daughter has attended this school for 3yrs and if this is what public schools are like our children are headed for a big dissapointment. The bullying with my child has not stopped after several episodes where staff is present (recess lunchroom classroom. My daughters self esteem and self confidence is very low from the abuse from students and staff that is not doing anything to prevent the bullying that is constant. I moved to Hercules so that my children would be able to attend a descent public school but I sure have been disappointed in this school.

We entered this school with great hopes for a wonderful learning experience. My child's learning experience is a nonevent on a daily basis. I have tried talking to the teacher helping in the classroom & talking with the principal. Nothing is changing fast enough to produce a positive learning experience for the kids. Any first grade student in a certain class is NOT getting a first grade education! If the teacher actually spent time with the students and provided experiences that allowed them to practice skills & discover new things....they would LEARN. How can you test a child on something you haven't taught? Foolishness! This is why people loose hope in public education. They are building a new school and that is great but if teaching and LEARNING are not happening then that is just more wasted tax dollars. Trust we are already looking for something better I feel for the students and families who do not have other choices. Please speak up for your child you are the only voice they have! Their education is urgent. There are positives the after school program is great there are parents evolved but they need to look closer at the academics & national standards.

Great school. I have been in the PTA for two years and on the site council. I know several of the teachers and the principle and can say I feel good knowing my children are in their hands.

My daughter Jade has been attending Ohlone Elementary since kindergarten. I love this school. She is currently in the 4th grade with only 1 more year to go at Ohlone. It's going to be sad for us next year.

Ohlone staff and students take a lemon and make lemonade. Our site may be run down but we hold our heads high and shine every year. Also the little PTA may be miniscule in volunteers but those that do it all are mighty and amazing.

I was one of the first students st Ohlone..way back when..I loved my time as an Ohlone student.. Who knew that my own children would also go to Ohlone..I believe in our little Ohlone Elementary..We may have old beat up bulidings..but our great staff of teachers makeup for it.I will be sad when my last of four children take their last walk down the halls of Ohlone. I will take with me my memories of my time as a child and as a parent with me..

Ohlone Elementary school is themost diverse school that my son has attended. The parents teachers and staff are eager to keep our children focused on things that matter in life and not focused on superficial things of this world. I appreciate that about the culture within Ohlone and the Hercules community as a whole. I have only been here for 1.5 years and appreciate the variety of things my child has been exposed to. This includes the teaching styles diverse cultures and parents who are vested in their children being just that 'children.'
