Both of our children attended Mesa Grande. The staff was excellent! Was a great foundation for their education. Daughter is in college now and obtaining her degree early. Son is in the military and will use the GI bill when he gets out. Invest in your children and be active in their homework assignments school activities and who they hang with.

I am quite upset that this school sent out a notice saying they are a third year needs improvement school. Why is this not being fixed? My daughter has been in kindergarten for almost 2 months and hasn't learned anything new that she didn't know before. Her friends are still writing their numbers from 1-10 and apparently they can't do that. They need to have a different program for kids that aren't learning and need extra help. My daughters education is suffering because the teacher has to focus on a few student rather than the entire class. Plus... my daughter gets out 10 minutes after her official "out" time every day!! I am not very happy with what is going on and I will probably move my daughter to a different school.

WE LOVE MESA GRANDE!!!!! my daughter started off at mesa in kindergarten. Now in first grade. I coundnt be happier with her progress she is reading above her expected levelas well as excelling with her social skills. The staff is amazing. My sophie immediatly was able to form bonds with her yard supervisors teachers and admin staff. Mesa Grande participates in all available programs to earn money for the betterment of school such as box top for education school cents etc..... Mesa grande also strongly promotes parent involvment which I feel is impairative at all levels of primary education.Tina and sophie J

I would choose this school above any others in the area. Principal and staff are willing to work with parents and the teachers are excellent. Had a 'bad' teacher in the beginning but she was eventually removed and replaced with an excellent one.

My youngest child will promote from sixth grade this year and I am very pleased with the early education she has received with Mesa Grande and its' staff. An excellent variety of personalities and teaching methods. Mrs. Sickul is awesome. Every child should have an early experience with an education like the one guided by Mesa. We wil miss you!

I think Mesa Grande is one of the best elementary schools in the area. My oldest started in K and is now in 6th. The teachers are fair take extra time with those that need it. But they do place a great emphasis on the parents taking an active interest in their childs education. Both of my boys love the school. The student to teacher ration is average. The majority of the teachers return year after year. My 1st grader has the same teacher that my 6th grader had when he was in 1st. All the teachers are very approachable as are the principal and other administrators. Rick Groh

My child is in grade K and what I have seen the curriculum can vary greatly with the different teachers. In one class the kids can write a sentence and in another the kids are still putting words together. The teachers and staff are great. But the school is overcrowded where the children can only perform in one of two performances.

My daughter is also in the GATE program. She really likes her teacher because not only is he very interesting but he is challenging as well. I really do like the idea that they are all in the same classroom. That way the whole class can work at a faster pace. GATE kids tend to get bored easily because they usually complete thier assignments before other students. I would definately recomment Mesa Grande if you have a GATE student.

I have a 5th grader at this school that has been a student here since Kindergarten. She has excelled at this school in all aspects. All her teachers have been excellent. We have even moved miles away from this school and I still kept her a student here. I don't mind driving the extra distance because my daughter is so happy and content at this school.

The quality of academic programs at this school are fairly good if you get a well educated teacher and one who has a valid intrest in the children. Newer teachers arent quite as up to par in my opinion. I dont like the way the music program is an after school activity and arts are limited. When I went to school art and music were part of the everyday curriculum and I would like to see that return to our schools. The level of parent involvment seems to be high. I do see alot of parent volunteers and a resonable amount of parents at back to school night. I think the dicipline in the schools is lacking and that the problem makes should be punished. It seems when the schools have problems all the kids have to suffer the consequence. I have seenm teachers and vice principals turn their heads.

My daughter recently finished 6th grade at this school. She only attended 5th & 6th grade here through the Gate program. I can tell you the positive impact this program has had on my child from day one of 5th grade. I feel the teachers and administration go out of their way to involve and excite students with their acedemic success. From Student Council to the Acheivers Assembly I was extremely impressed with Mesa Grande. I have other children that attend another school in the district and they receive little to no recogintion for their achievments. Way to go Mesa!

I have two children that attend Mesa Grande Elementary School...and this next school year my 4 year old will attend as well. I don't have anything negative to say about this school. They try their hardest to meet the students needs. However I feel they do need some type of program for children like my 7 year old son. He is not eligible for special education yet he is not at the level of the other students in his class. I am hoping that soon Mesa Grande will have some type of class for children like this because mainstreaming my son with a class that he cannot follow is not fair for me nor for him. Amy Potter

I have had a child in this school for the past five years and the teachers and support staff are absolutely wonderful any time my son has a problem I have been notified immediately about the problem. Then his teachers and I have tried to work together to solve his problems. Now my middle started school there this year and we have moved I chose to keep my sons at Mesa Grande instead of sending them to the school near our new home. This school is a wonderful place to have your children going too.

This school needs to begin by cleanning up the restrooms so as to allow the kids to actully use them. I have been in them and I would not sit in them. Next the playground equipment that was bought by the parents then trashed has not been replaced but did end up at other peoples houses. There is over-croweding at this school while this school district spends money lavishly on its two (2) high schools and junior high schools and their sports programs. This is not the only elementary school in the district that is like this there are more.Thank you for letting state my comments even if they may not be in favor of the district but I have put three (3) kids through this district and now my grandson is here and I was hoping for some change by now.

My son has been attending Mesa Grande for 6 years. For the most part I have always been very happy with his teachers.

This school has a Self Contained GATE program which means there is a 4th 5th and 6th seperate GATE classroom where only GATE kids in these rooms. This was my childs first experience with being with a whole classroom full of other children just like him. This has been the most wonderful experience for my child. Most schools only have 'cluster groups' where their might be 1 or 2 other GATE kids in the room but to have a whole room full of GATE kids together at the same age was the best. Even the teachers have been GATE certified and know how to meet these childrens needs educational emotionally and the the children really excel in this enviorment. I highly recommend this to any parent trying to decide what to do with their GATE child.
