Orientation this year is tomorrow and I am certain that Mr Mace will impress upon the students how important thier involvement is in the learning process as well as the dedication of him and his entire staff to providing a safe learning environment. We want to help prepare the students by showing them how to learn and challenging them to reach higher than they have in the past.
I am not certain you have looked at a)how many students are at this school or b)how much paperwork a teacher or administrator actually does or even c)the amount of time left for an outside life this leaves for anything for a teacher or administrator but regardless the next time you think of making any of these judgments think of all of this. The time you took to make your observations was time that I am pretty certain a school worker does not even have to have lunch. Enjoy yours.
I have been here for two years and I would have to say that this school is average. I think that most of the teachers faculty and staff have the best interest of the students in mind and treat them well while some do not...that's at about every school though! I do not think that the academics here will fully prepare me for college because they aren't very competitive. A lot of students here don't care about anything and I think that is the true reason our scores are low...not because of the teachers. The sports aspect of this school is good-if you play football. Football is just about the only sport focused on but I guess that isn't too bad. The thing that I hate most about it here is the absent policy!
I am very pleased with the communication between teacher student and parent. I truly feel the teachers at HCHS have been a true inspiration to my son who is a LD Student with special needs. The teachers allow me as the parent to have opinions and provide feedback to them. Thank you!
This is a wonderful school!! ii love it and ii love all the teachers...Some are tougher than others but they are only that way because they love us!!
There should be more communication from teachers to parents concerning problems in classes before the grading periods are over. Not at the end of the school year! .Students with SLD and Learning disabilities should be espically noticed more and their needs met better so they can recieve the best education possible... There are students who are getting left behind!! It is the teachers responsibility and job to see that students get the best education possible. It is a parents responbility to ensure this as well!! Mostly the student should enjoy being at school and intrested in learning and this happens when the student knows the teacher cares about them. .
stuck up in the clouds and academics are poor
I think they are a very well ditinquished school and very active They care avout the kids over there and only have the best intrest in mind
I don't feel that Harnett Central High School offers a competitive education in preparing it's students for college.
I am very disappointed in the Harnett County school system atleast with this school. The statement no child left behind is very unsat. in this case. I don't think the time to teach the kids by the teachers is taken. Hand out should not be a end to teaching. There should be alot more class contact going on. Not all children learn the same so we should make sure we take every approuch possiable to help all students. Also when a parent is involved and cares about the childs education that should be a plus and that also should be a priority. That should be a flag for the teacher ' I have a parent who cares'. My child can study to the cows come home but that isn't going to help her if she is retaining it and to hand out papers and not talk about it well.. TKWILLIAMS
On many levels it is a great school - great course offerings dedicated teachers for the most part. Administration is not so great. At freshman orientation all the administration did was stand up and recite the rules and regs and the consequences thereof. You could just see these excited kids deflate. Punishments for the infractions of 1 or 2 students are inflicted on the whole student body. The school is good it could be great if it weren't for the poor morale.
So far my two years at Harnett Central High have been pretty good concerning academics. They do offer many quality AP Courses and have countless wonderful teachers who absolutely adore teaching and working with students. Being the cream-of-the-crop school of Harnett County and averaging scores higher than the state average you can deal with the overpopulation rather than going to any other high school in Harnett County. Sure a lack of funds is present to further help our school grow because of the taxes we aren't getting from businesses. That is an advantage that faster growing towns such as Fuquay-Varina has over Angier. All in all the most important thing is is the quality of education the student body is receiving through the teachers. You've also got to have the motivated child to learn and to soak up the material provided.
Harnett Central High School is a wonderful school. It has a wonderful athletics department and awesome coaches. HCHS could have more clubs courses and extracurricular activities available for freshman though. I am proud to support the Trojans and plan on sending my children there as long as I stay in the area. The first semester of this school year has gone very well the exams went smoothly and tryouts for spring sports are on there way. Despite what other people might think this is a great school for the Harnett County area. I believe a majority of the students support HCHS and enjoy attending it. The teaching staff I have been involved with is wonderful and the students for the most part respect and listen to their teachers. Harnett Central High School isn't perfenct but no high school is. Every school has problems but Harnett Central handles the pressures the best.
The school has good teachers but the administration uses the school as a format to do religious policing. My children accelled at their scholastics but only because of the teachers and despite administration. We have lost many good teachers as a result of the administration. Which is very sad.
This school is grossly over populated. Kids are in huts which have poor heat/air. Children's choices for classes needed for graduation are very limited because of over crowding. Popular classes are nearly impossible to get because they fill quickly. This school has very poor parental involvement unless you really strive to make yourself known. Phone lines at the school are impossible to get through on and when you do it's impossible to get a return call. Teachers seem overwhelmed. It's easy for a child to be 'left behind'. Dress code is imposed but not enforced. Kids can be seen wearing anything from short shorts and cleavage to underwear hanging out of their pants on any given day. Most kids don't participate in homecoming dances or prom because these functions are overrun by undesirable groups/gangs.
This school is decent however I have a huge problem with their absentee policy. My daughter was very sick with strep last year and missed 5 days of school. She had a doctor's note had her sister bring home school work and still upon her return was required to go to Saturday school (did busy work)because she had missed more than 4 days. My oldest moved as a senior and absolutely hated this school. Not a welcoming environment especially for a senior. Also school does not have a high turnover rate so kids are just not that open to new people. My youngest an incoming freshman had an easier time as all freshman are new to the school. Academically school offers very few honors classes and a few AP courses. School is also on a 4 x 4 schedule meaning 4 classes each sememster...not good in my opinion.
