My Notes

Edit
This 1902 Prairie style American 4 square, originally belonging to early settlers of the area, the Elsen family, was moved in June of 1980 from its original location at Gary?s Mill and Route 59 to it?s current site on Summit Drive. This historic farmhouse and surrounding property has undergone extensive and professional remodeling while in the hands of its current owners. The home itself has 5 bedrooms, 4 full baths, 2 fireplaces and a fully finished basement including a home theatre, wet bar, children?s playroom/game room and walk in cedar closet. The entire third floor is a walk up attic. There is also an extra deep detached three car garage with a heater and attic storage on the property. The front of the home is furnished with a wrap around porch, and the rear of the home has a blue stone patio, as well as a covered side porch equipped with a gas line for grilling.
The property is approximately one acre, and resides in the heart of downtown Winfield. It is walking distance to the train (Metra Union-Pacific West Line, Chicago to Elburn.), District 34 Schools, Winfield Public Library, Central DuPage Hospital and the town center.
Interior features
The home has a zoned heating and cooling system. The two lower levels are on a furnace housed in the basement, and the upper level?s furnace is in the attic. The basement furnace is equipped with an Aprilaire humidifier, and the attic furnace has an overflow tub and dual redundant drains. The home also has two 40 gallon water heaters and a central vacuum system.
The electrical service has been upgraded to a 200 amp service with an additional basement sub panel and garage sub panel.
A 7500W generator transfer panel with outdoor mounted 30A generator inlet allows for quick and safe backup power if necessary.
Outdoor landscape and front porch lighting have an integrated timer and motion sensor system. The entire house is wired for sound. In wall speakers are present in the master bath, master bedroom, and home theatre area. The front porch has outdoor speakers and the Arts & Crafts.
All light fixtures in the home have been replaced with the exception of the vintage gasolectric chandelier and the Tiffany style sconces.
The windows have been newly replaced, with vinyl clad double paned insulated glass.
The security system is a a DSC Alarm System with LCD status panels by the back door and in the master bedroom, and an LED status panel in the garage. The LCD panels display the status of all doors in the house and garage by name. A whole home intercom system is integrated into the DSC alarm system with doorbell stations by the front door and side door and an additional station in the garage.
Hard wired interconnected smoke detectors throughout the house meet new construction standards.
All telephone and network jack locations are home run CAT-5 cabled. The sump pump is a 1 HP Ridgid lifetime guaranteed unit with a solid state float switch. A Basement Watchdog battery backup sump pump in additional to a Tane Water Commander water powered sump pump create a triple redundant backup system. All three pumps have separate drain lines and can work in tandem if necessary.
External features
The flooring on the wrap around porch was upgraded from wood planks to trex flooring. The porch has built in speakers. The outdoor light fixtures on the porch, lamppost and garage have all been replaced and upgraded.
The heated, oversized three car garage is 32? by 26? deep. Full attic storage is above the structure. A full scale work area complete with industrial shelving unit lines the back wall.
The property has a 50 foot Sycamore and several Walnuts at the end of the property. Landscaping has been done to the home by its current owners, including the removal and replacement of numerous trees and landscape lighting.
The blue stone patio was added in 2008 and is 20? by 26?.
The property itself is 140 wide x 300 deep.

What I love about the home

The home was professionally furnished and decorated by Darleen's Interiors of Naperville. Living Room:Highlights include the original pocket doors, shared with the dining room, and the Frank Lloyd Wright replica designed stained glass insert in the front door. This inviting room with its rich oak flooring and molding. The custom made drapes and color accents bring out the richness of the wood designs, while adding a softened glow. The ceiling is 9? tall, and the room is 15? by 16?. Dining Room:Highlights include the original pocket doors, built-in china cabinet, and the original gasolectric chandelier with plaster fretwork. This space is accented with oak flooring, molding and a built in oak china cabinet. One of the seven doors leads through a butlers pantry, complete with built in cabinetry. The ceiling is 9? tall, and the room is 15? by 16?. Out of this room a door leads onto a porch, measuring 6? by 16?, which has a natural gas line for a freestanding gas grill. Kitchen: In late 2013 it was updated with new appliances, granite counter tops, sink and flooring. Highlights of this room include the maple floor, bead board ceiling, oak pot rack over the island and brick fireplace. The center island workspace faces the large bay window, overlooking the blue stone patio and expansive backyard. Cabinets are cherry and the center island has a butcher block top, the remaining counter tops are all granite. Overhead hangs an impressive oak pot rack which four direct lights to illuminate the cooking space. Also in the kitchen is a brick gas fireplace with an oak mantel. To the right of the fireplace are built in book shelves. The original maple flooring has been refurbished and complements the darker cherry cabinets and dark stained oak bead board ceiling. The expanded overhead lighting focuses on pieces of artwork and brightens key work spaces. The ceiling is 9? high, and the room is 15? by 16?. DUE TO SPACE LIMITATIONS, PLEASE REQUEST A BROCHURE.

Market guide

Zillow predicts 60190 home values will increase 0.8% next year, compared to a 0.7% rise for Winfield as a whole. Among 60190 homes, this home is valued 91.7% more than the midpoint (median) home, but is valued 20.4% less per square foot.

Foreclosures will be a factor impacting home values in the next several years. In 60190, the number of foreclosures waiting to be sold is 0.7% less than in Winfield, and 56.1% greater than the national average. This lower local number could help 60190 home values rise more quickly than other regions in Winfield.
