The property is an just about 1 1/2 acres up on a hill that is 80 feet above sea level. Prior to this home being built, the property was a working farm with apple orchards and an onion crop. A huge barn that was located on the property has been relocated to a lot in Weston where it became a home featured in House Beautiful. All neighbors have similar sized lots and well maintained homes. School buses for lower and middle schools come right up the street. Easy access to I-95, close to stores and walking distance to Sherwood Island State Park. There are two train stations in Westport with 36 trains a day to New York City, all trains run express from Stamford, a few run express right from Westport or Norwalk. Run time to NYC is just about one hour. There are huge parking lots at the train stations as well as a municipal bus service. The Westport School System is one of the best in the state both academically as well as in sports. It has unrivalved music and theater programs. Staples High School graduates go to the finest universities across the country. The per pupil spending is among the highest in the state yet the property taxes are less than in surrounding communities for comparably priced homes. The town also has several private schools including Greens Farms Academy and a French School. Westport has outstanding recreational facilites including a municipal golf course, two municipal marinas plus private ones, exceptional parks and playgrounds, outstanding library, YMCA, a new senior center, Westport Playhouse, and much more. If shopping at "upper end' stores is your thing, Westport is the place. There is not enough space here to report on Westport shopping. One trip to downtown will convince you that retail operations in Wesport are excellent. It is also the town where people come to when they want fine dining. There are several outstanding restuarants all over town.
