Punta Gorda Isles ("PGI") is the Premium Waterfront Subdivision in Charlotte County and Punta Gorda. It is a "Deed-Restricted" Subdivision first developed in the 1960s on 54 miles of dredged, deep water canals with direct access to Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico. The canals have a continuous cement seawall sytem which is owned and maintained by the City of Punta Gorda ($400/yr per property owner) which is unique in Florida. There is great pride of ownership in the entire community and PGI is arguably the best waterfront community in S. Florida navigationally and value wise. It is located in Punta Gorda, an historical community with a "small town" (20,000 residents year round) feeling.
