Built in 1931, this was one of the first homes in the western area of Des Moines, not to mention that it is on the National Register of Historic Places. Many of the original details remain including the dramatic carved stone entryway, decorative wrought iron window grills, four hand painted lunettes and an upstairs bathroom with hand painted murals. The main entry is an expansive hall, two stories tall with walnut beams across the ceiling and a Spanish Renaissance mantle of cut stone. The master suite on the main floor has a closet both in the bedroom and a wall of closet space in the bath. The kitchen has new Corian countertops, gas cook top and a wall mount oven and microwave. Additionally the main floor includes a breakfast nook, study, two sun rooms and a formal dining room. There is a wrought iron balcony connecting the two spacious, second floor bedrooms each with their own bath.
