My Notes

Own this home and you will also own an amazing piece of Des Moines history. Built in 1931, this was one of the first homes in the western area of Des Moines and it is on the National Register of Historic Places. Many of the original details remain including the dramatic carved stone entryway, decorative leaded glass window grills, four hand painted lunettes and an upstairs bathroom with hand painted murals. Upon entry is a large great room, two stories tall with walnut beams across the ceiling and a Spanish Renaissance wood burning fireplace of cut stone. The master suite on the main floor has an abundance of natural light. It has a closet both in the bedroom and a wall of closet space in the bath. The kitchen has new Corian countertops, gas cook top and a wall mount oven and microwave. Additionally the main floor includes a breakfast nook, den, a sun room/family room, a formal dining room and a large three seasons porch. There is a wrought iron balcony connecting the two spacious, second floor bedrooms each with their own bath. The finished, walkout basement includes a family room, bedroom, full bath and access to the 2 car garage. The home overlooks historic Waveland Golf Course (oldest golf course West of the Mississippi) and is well over half an acre. Relax in the north side three seasons porch overlooking the stunning side yard with herb gardens, mature trees and a large brick patio. This home is so much more than a list of features. It is history.
