What I love
I love this old neighborhood. It's quiet and friendly - a place where the entire family can take afternoon walks to the bay and ride bicycles without fear of being run down by traffic. Tall trees still line the road for summer shade, and the creek is full of wildlife - fish, crabs & muscles in the tidal waters, with cranes, cormorants, osprey and ducks of every type above. I love that the neighborhood is full of original Sears Roebuck & Co., craftsmen homes. No cookie cutter attitudes here! But what I really love is the fact that my home is the only "Hathaway" model (#3082) to be found! Even though it's been updated, most of the woodwork - from trim to the hardwood floors - remains original. I love that I'm centrally located to the interstate and both the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, the Monitor-Merrimac Bridge Tunnel and the James River Bridge. It takes me 15 minutes or less to get to work, shopping or the movies. The Busch Gardens amusement park and the Historic Triangle - Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown & Jamestown - are less than an hour away. Richmond's Kings Dominion, or North Carolina's Nags Head are easy trips. From great parks to great shopping, there's so much more to love about this area. And it is constantly growing - the new Hampton Convention Center is a great addition to the Hampton Coliseum, and the new "city center" promises to be a great place for relaxing or shopping.More Less
