Marin Architect Robert Forsher strikingly designed modern custom built home in the premier Skye Ranch development of San Geronimo. As a newer development of custom homes, the streets are wide and utilities are underground. Home is beautifully situated up the hill at the end of a cul-de-sac and is near the San Geronimo golf course. The property has hundreds of trees including oak, madrone, bay, buckeye, fir and a young grove of redwood trees, offering a natural experience viewed from the house or from the nature trails on the property. There are nearby horse facilities and hiking trails. The lot, at over 4.2 acres, is the largest in the development. Water is Marin Municipal. The property offers state-of-the-art construction and engineering. The home is just a few miles west of Ross Valley and the town of Fairfax, 20 miles northwest of the Golden Gate, and was newly built from the ground up in 2009 then expanded in 2014. Upstairs, there is a master suite/bath/walk-in closet with its own exterior balcony. The bath has a two person soaking tub and separate shower. There are two separate atria/balconies off of the master suite, overlooking the great room below, useful as reading areas, home offices,sitting rooms, or even a nursery. The main floor has an open floor plan, and ceilings are mostly 10+ to 20+ foot. The fully equipped open kitchen has granite counters, DeWills custom cabinetry, and nearby is a pantry and laundry room. Living area floors are five inch grooved Australian Cypress installed and finished on site and some slate; the three full baths have marble floors. There's no carpet in the house. There are whole house water and air purification systems, two on demand tank-less water heaters, exterior irrigation system and landscape lighting. All interior doors are solid maple. Windows and doors are all 'frameless' - for a sleek modern effect. There are multiple connections throughout the house and detached studio for voice, internet and cable TV. The smart box accommodates the CAT 5 wiring. There is a concrete perimeter foundation, and it's underpinned by 9 foot deep concrete reinforced piers for top seismic stability. Decks have a second perimeter foundation. Exterior wall studs are 2X6 construction. Wallboard is 5/8 inch thick. There's an over sized two car detached garage with 240 volt connection, and the elevated driveway rests on over engineered concrete piers and steel beams. Take the steps down to the central courtyard. The detached studio could be an excellent second master bedroom suite (includes wet bar, mini fridge,walk in closet, lots of built in cupboards, and a luxury 2 sink bathroom with marble counters), a guest house, or an in law. It is on your left (under the garage) and the main house is to your right a few short steps across the courtyard. House siding is mostly top of the line HardiePlank Artisan fibrous cement lap siding with stainless steel corners, and partly stained cedar. Visible parts of the roof are metal. The house has a wide variety of lighting, mostly LED. In January, 2014 an expansion was completed to 3+ large bedrooms (two with en suite luxury baths and walk-in closets) and 3 full baths. There is a loft style room above the new east bedroom, accessed by a cool captain's ladder; this loft has its own closet, picture-window views, and could be used as a fourth bedroom or a private home office.  More Less
