The Aldersgate community was set up in the mid 80's as one of Jacksonville's few executive neighborhoods. Centrally located within the city, it is also surrounded by trees and woods providing a quiet neighborhood that seems away from traffic. Now, 25 years later, the trees continue to provide a serine environment with mature landscapes not available in newer cookie-cutter neighborhoods. Due to the slightly elevated hillsides from the surrounding creeks, Aldersgate is also one of a few places in Jacksonville to find a home with a basement. Traffic is kept to a minimum because of the one way in, one way out entrance to the neighborhood. Children play throughout the neighborhood's streets and side walks. Crime is low and mostly non-existent. Wildlife including birds, squirrels, foxes and deer are often seen in local yards. Jacksonville High School and sport fields are less than a mile walk from the Aldersgate entrance.More Less
