It is a spacious feeling for a townhome of this size. Natural light pours in and brightens the lightly colored travertine floor. The kitchen is open and extended by a windowed nook, and can look out to the private landscaped garden scene in the back. Professionally installed artificial grass makes it very low maintenance to enjoy, but a pleasure to own.
Upstairs is the master bedroom plus two more - all are tiled, and so are both showers. The master features a walk in closet and a vaulted ceiling.
The unit is very quiet, even with open doors and windows.
The association includes two pools, hot tubs, and tennis courts to choose from. It is popular for its location: close to schools and freeways (and of course the beach). Del Mar Heights Shopping Center - always lively and bustling - is in easy walking distance. Solana Highlands Elementary is a short three minute walk, the high school less than fifteen.

Neighborhood Description
Carmel Valley is one of the growing gems on the coastal side of San Diego. It has excellent schools, parks, shopping, and wonderful restaurant choices, and feels more like a beautiful suburb than a busy city. Colorful hot air balloons fill the late skies nearby. The rec center has tennis courts, indoor basketball and volleyball clubs, and their swimming pool even has a huge set of water slides to ride. The movie theater has recently been remodeled to include reclining leather seats, on demand remote snack service, and an art gallery.
Carmel Valley is lucky to have Torrey Pines State Beach and Torrey Pines State Parks. Though many people travel far to visit these beautiful places, here they are local places to get away from it all. At the foot of the park is the beach. The hillside above it is the park and stunning ocean views. Minutes uphill is UCSD, Gliderport, and La Jolla, with visitors arriving each year, from all over the world.
The towns of Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe are also in Carmel Valley's backyard, just a few minutes away. Del Mar is popular for its clean and friendly beaches, old village charm, and well known racetrack and fairgrounds. It's a place for an afternoon or evening stroll, or just a day at the beach. Rancho Santa Fe is one of the old historic towns in San Diego from early years, with old Spanish style ranches, and continues to be a San Diego cultural center for horses, golfing, and polo.
The location on the highlands allows residents to breathe oxygen-rich ocean air and enjoy a mild climate, without the morning fog that is usually found on the sea level. This brings more sunshine all year, while enjoying beaches locally. The freeway locations are superb, being directly on the 5 freeway and also the 56 highway. Its central location in San Diego gives it easy access to towns up and down the coast. Encinitas and La Jolla are less than ten minutes by car, and Downtown, Mission Valley, and Oceanside are a mere twenty minutes away.
 
What I love about the home
There are wonderful parks spread out through Carmel Valley, many of them are worth visiting often. Two in close strolling distance - one with a bbq and playground, and the other views the ocean, hot air balloons, and the valley below. Del Mar fireworks are perfectly seen from here. And both are convenient and serene. I simply must add Torrey Pines State Park Extension A. It is undiscovered to most. There are gorgeous ocean sunsets, and full of favorite walking trails, red rock formations, and ocean views. There is a dog beach in Del Mar where all the dogs play, a huge area where dogs are allowed to play offleash. There is a grassy dog park behind Torrey Pines High School where the sand averts go, and a "dog trail" behind the Piazza Carmel Shopping Center. There are wonderful organic foods available, from Jimbo's the organic supermarket, to Sprouts for organic bargains, to restaurants like The Counter, and a variety of farmers markets. Few areas have exciting organic food - if you care about what you eat, you might be as happy about it as I am. Lastly is the beach. It's too long of a walk for most, but if you want a quick drive to some of the best beaches in southern California, this is about as good as it gets. The people are friendly, the beaches are clean, and it's such a wonderful way to spend a day.
