Enjoy the best of in-town Hanover living in this fully renovated home that's only a pleasant stroll from the library, Dartmouth gym, and the commercial action of Main Street. Located on a quiet side road that sees more pedestrians than cars, the vehicular section ends amid an extensive network of hiking and biking paths. The original 1956 house, with a discreetly understated Cape exterior, sits on more than half an acre. It was meticulously redesigned and expanded by the noteworthy Christopher Kennedy of Hanover-based UK Architects and rebuilt "from the studs up" by luxury-level contractors G.R. Porters & Sons of Norwich, VT. Every floor, wall, roof, door and window was replaced; the insulation drastically increased; and the electrical, plumbing and climate-control systems were upgraded to exacting specifications. The only remaining elements of the original house are the foundation and some in-wall framing. A family room, master bedroom suite, and three-season porch enlarged the footprint and raised the bar to contemporary tastes for this price range. Special attention was given during the renovation to build a solid, high quality, energy efficient, and comfortable home that would stand the test of time. Only low VOC paints and varnishes were used. There is a heat-recovery air-exchange system throughout to maintain superior air freshness indoors, a highly practical delight when the house is necessarily kept closed during the winter months. The reverse osmosis water filtration system ensures pure chlorine-free water. This three-bedroom, three-bath house blends period-inspired arts-and-crafts features with today's fine finishes and use of space.
