My Notes

Edit
Completely updated and well-maintained, this turn-key Mendenhall Village colonial boasts an enormous deck wrapped around an ivy-covered silver maple, a brand-new kitchen, and a fully-finished walk-out basement. 3% commission to buyer agent.
Neighborhood Description
Much sought-after family-friendly neighborhood in the hills of Hockessin. It boasts sidewalks, street lights, community parks, fishing pond, open space, and walking trails to Delcastle park and shopping. Excellent Red Clay schools.

What I love about the home

A family room and study are accessed from the foyer, and a pass-through leads to an oversized kitchen an dining room. Knotty pine board flooring brings an American Country feel to the entire main living space. Pine floors distress beautifully and are easy to maintain. Optimized for modern entertaining, the kitchen and dining room share an open area, complete with fireplace, loft ceiling, and French doors to the deck. A mud room with a deep sink is located at the entrance from the garage, and adjoins a full bath. The three bedrooms upstairs share another full bath. Both attic spaces are lighted, floored, and have pull-down stairs. Completely remodeled in 2011 with cherry cabinets to the ceiling, under-counter lighting, fireclay farmhouse sink, Kitchen-Aid cabinet-front dishwasher, bar-height island, and St. Cecilia granite. The layout was designed to create more usable countertop space, maximize storage, and accommodate a 36? wide refrigerator. The 150sqft upper section includes a firewood storage area and provides convenient storage underneath. The 600sqft lower section includes a section designed to support the weight of a hot tub or kiddie pool. The seashell design wraps around an old, ivy-covered silver maple to ensure that a shady spot can be found any time of day. Wired for outdoor speakers tied to the house, and deck lights are connected to a wireless control. It is perfect for entertaining large groups three seasons out of the year. The dining-area wood-burning fireplace insert is more than sufficient to heat the main living area. The whole-house fan makes the house comfortable without the need for AC most of the year. The combination makes the utility bills small and the home wonderfully comfortable. Both insulated and part of the central air system, the fully-finished walk-out basement includes a walk-in closet, plenty of storage, a built-in entertainment center, and 10 feet of countertop space in the laundry area.
