My Notes

Edit
Welcome to Our Home,
We love this totally custom house, and the only reason we are leaving is to retire in the Smoky Mountains, our last dream to pursue.
I drew up the floor plan for the house. We love to entertain family and friends and believe this house is warm, inviting and comfortable. We are taking many loving memories with us.
When we first purchased the lot, there was a tree near the lake that looked like the oaks from "Gone with the Wind." We built the house around the tree which shaded the deck. Unfortunately, we had a little hurricane called Katrina which took the mighty oak down. I was so upset that now I had no shade in the yard. Thus, the patio with the trees and running creek were a result of our losing the tree. We have found that granddaughters love moving rocks in the creek. One in particular will spend hours in the creek and is completely oblivious that there is a lake in our backyard.
The lake has provided many hours of entertainment. We have named ducks, pelicans and one special blue heron, Kramer. (There is a picture of Kramer eating a fish in our front hallway.) Kramer will watch for us on the pier, usually around dusk or early morning. The grandkids love to feed the bream and catch them for Kramer. He will fly into the yard, and we throw him fish to eat. He is very entertaining. It has reached the point that our neighbor will call us and tell us that Kramer is in her yard waiting for supper. Oh yes, there is great fishing in the lake (bream, crappie, bass and catfish). I wanted a pontoon boat, but my husband says a real fisherman doesn't fish from a pontoon boat, so we have a bass boat.
As you can tell, I love flowers. I have tried to have something blooming in the yard all through the year. In winter, it is camellias; spring brings the azaleas, lilies, hydrangeas and roses. Summer has the gardenias, roses and daisies, many of which continue into fall. I plant a few annuals each year and prepare pots just to give a pop of color. Pansies, petunias and zinnias are my favorites. Now that the yard is established, it is very easy to keep. Mowing takes about 25 minutes. The beds have filled in so weeds are minimal. We cut back trees and shrubs in late winter and early spring and clean the creek and put out straw. Then we are ready to sit back and enjoy the yard until hard winter hits.
Now about the house: We have areas for everyone. The kids watch tv in the multi-purpose room. The men will watch in the great room while the ladies chat in the keeping room or on the porch. I love my kitchen so much that the house we will soon be building has the same kitchen. I have my side of the kitchen, and my husband has his side. I have the farmhouse sink, cookie sheet drawer, garbage drawer, dishwasher, microwave, warming drawer and ovens close by. My husband has his sink along with a separate garbage drawer. He has the cooktop and refrigerator within easy reach. Everyone can access the ice maker across from the china cabinets. Don't laugh, but my favorite thing in the kitchen is my paper towel rack. I love that it is out of sight and not on top of the counter wobbling every time I need a paper towel.
Other favorite things include: the tv hidden behind a painting, done by a friend, in the keeping room; the sound system providing music through the house and on the porch; the window seat in the keeping room to bird watch; and lastly, the light switch I have in our bedroom that lights up the stain glass window over the tub so that at night the stain glass serves as our nightlight.
I think that by now you understand that we think of this as a special home. If you were to purchase it, I know that it will become that special place for you and your family and friends.

In 39110, the number of foreclosures waiting to be sold is 5.8% greater than in Madison, and 12.5% less than the national average.
