Thomson Residence, 1957, by Buff, Straub and Hensman. Featured on the rear cover and pages 50-55 of Donald Hensman's book Buff & Hensman, this home is an important example of the architects' early post-and-beam work.The 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home was the Winner of the 2012 Preservation Award from the City of Pasadena for its museum-quality restoration during 2011-2012, and also a featured story in the LA Times on January 5, 2013. Virtually every surface was restored or re-built to exacting detail. All new systems including plumbing, electrical, roof and zoned heating/air conditioning. Kitchen features Sub-Zero refrigerator and Miele appliances.The two-story glass and wood pavilion is located within the Poppy Peak Historic District in the San Rafael Hills of Pasadena and offers mountain and city views.The home also features expansive decks, patio and grassy yard, which provide the perfect California indoor/outdoor flow that made these architects famous.This home is under the Mills Act.
