My Notes

Edit
The Big House in Ballard -- now a private residence with frequent art, music and event happenings. While the old original classic church structure remains remarkably intact underneath, bathrooms have been added, access to the tower improved, the legal rental apartment completely renovated. The Gothic Crow window recently installed-- a 2000 pound sand-cast, gothic window that greets you at the street was created by owner/glass artist David Chatt documented by the Seattle Channel -- Art Zone and presides over the street front and interior sanctuary. Double doors in the 52 tower open to the stairs leading to the breathtaking sanctuary/great room. A small stage then expands to additional space by way of garage door sized wall openings that vertically retract up towards the high ceilings and currently is used as a gallery/studio. The full immersion baptismal font has been converted to a beautiful triangular shaped bathroom -- how clever is that??? A bedroom replaces the former pastors office. The separate apartment is accessed by an exterior stairway. A unique and tasteful remodel generates high-dollar rent with sunset view over the Olympics. And then theres the towera collection of small rooms connected by stairs and ship ladders. On the way to the top of the tower you ll view the attic--a 20 high cavernous space exposing the web-like joist system supporting the entire structure. The final rise in the tower takes you through a hatch and out onto a 14 square foot crows nest deck viewing the Olympic range, Puget Sound, the ship canal, Space Needle & downtown skyscrapers. And below is the lower level with tall windows and 10 foot ceilings. The former social area features a big kitchen, comfortable living space with room to seat a 42 person sit-down dinner, 4+ additional bedrooms, 1.5 tiled baths accented with sand cast glass features. Local history says the building was originally the Second Swedish Church, followed by Bethany Baptist, Bethany Assembly, Evangelical Chinese and Church of the Divine Man. And now it could be yours!  More Less

    Neighborhood: Ballard

Zillow predicts Ballard home values will increase 7.8% next year, compared to a 7.6% rise for Seattle as a whole. Among Ballard homes, this home is valued 309.4% more than the midpoint (median) home, but is valued 31.7% less per square foot.

Foreclosures will be a factor impacting home values in the next several years. In Ballard, the number of foreclosures waiting to be sold is 11.3% less than in Seattle, and 17.2% less than the national average. This lower local number could help Ballard home values rise more quickly than other regions in Seattle.
