Built in 1901. Extensively restored over the last 10 years including new architectural shingle roof, (3) chimney restorations, replacement of exterior mouldings (where damaged beyond repair) with faithful reproductions, upgraded central heat/air/ductwork, gas service expanded to hot water heater, stove, and dryer, gas lines to 5 of the 8 fireplaces, 4 with ventless gas logs installed, new PEX plumbing system/ water heater, storm windows, full attic insulation.
In 2011, the exterior of the house was repainted and all wood damage repaired. The master and guest baths were completely remodeled as well, with the renovation of the third in progress.
Downstairs master and guest rooms, large front room, downstairs office. Two bedrooms upstairs with shared bath, and an unfinished space that could be converted to a third bedroom.
This home also features a matching detached 2 door garage, with a large workshop in back, half bath and a full finished room above. The garage has electric, water, sewer, gas, and cable service.

What I love about the home

We've been here since 2001 and still love the fact that we are living in a house that remains true to the character of when it was built over a hundred years ago. Throughout the renovations over the past 10 years, we have made every reasonable effort to not deviate too much from the original design and intent of the builder. Old house like this are not plentiful in Apex, making owning and living in one even more special to us. In the last several years, there have been three or four major old house renovations in the surrounding neighborhood, which is personally gratifying and shows that Apex is an up and coming historic preservation area. In the Spring, we love the spectacular azalea bloom that signals the cold weather will soon be a distant memory. In the dog days of Summer, there is nothing better than to hide out on the wide, shady front porch and read a book or just watch the world go by. The sugar maples out front provide spectacular Fall foliage most years (we even enjoy the raking), and we love harvesting the bountiful crop of pecans from our own mature tree out back. In years when we are lucky enough to get enough snow, the house takes on an almost magical quality. And, of course, being able to walk to the old downtown never gets old.
