My Notes

Edit
A wonderful .99 acre lot just a mile or so from IU campus is waiting for you. Walk, bike, bus, or drive as most things are close. You'll feel as though you on in the country while you share the back of the lot with deer, birds, and squirrels. Mid-century contemporary home has 4 BRs and 2.5 BAs. MBR suite (BR, Study, BA) is upstairs, everything else is on main level.

What I love about the home

Very unique, 99% original 1956 mid century modern home. The original first level was architect designed and built by 2 Indiana University professors. There are some great black and white photos taken in 1955 of the site, and construction of the original first level. There is a main floor family room addition and upper level master suite and study that was added by the same architect in 1968. This house has all the great design features of mid century modern homes of the time, flat roof, beam and broad ceilings, some walls are concrete block, all glass back walls facing the north side (backyard), many built-in book shelves, massive field stone wood burning fireplace, galley kitchen with windows running the entire length of the counters (most of the windows in the house original Andersen windows and are in great shape, all newer windows are also Andersen windows), there are original custom cabinets and counter tops, and washer dryer in the kitchen. The first level has beautiful refurbished redwood cabinets in the kitchen (it's amazing that nobody painted these white in the past!), and redwood tongue and groove paneling all through the hallways and original bathroom. The original bathroom is very unique in that there are two toilets and sinks separated in the middle by a bathtub! The house interior lends itself to either a strict mid century look, or can be done in a japanese/asian motif with all the beautiful woodwork. The exterior has been updated by being painted a dark slate grey on the original cedar siding, the front door orange, and the concrete block a silver grey. The upper deck has had a natural cedar siding added as a safety feature.
