Among the first home built outside the old city, as defined by "Boundary Street", now 22nd Street and Florida Avenue. Adjacent to park land yet short walk to hundreds of restaurants, stores and employment. The Walk Score of 94. Elegant late 19th century home that has been totally remodeled and updated between 2005 and 2011.
Neighborhood Description
Location: 94 Walk Score so walking to 2 Metro stops, Embassy Row, Rock Creek Park is the view with easy access, great nearby neighborhoods (Georgetown, Kalarama, Dupont), hundreds of restaurants, many museums and safe. Do not need a car but Zip cars are 2 blocks away. Trader Joe's 5 blocks away and little daily market within 2 blocks. Georgetown is across the Buffalo Bridge over Rock Creek, which one can see from the front steps of the house
Kalarama/Georgetown/Dupont Circle: the house technically is in Kalarama but really is in between these three neighborhoods. Its backyard backs onto several embassies which are, in actuality, office buildings housed in old mansions. That means they are empty during the evenings and weekends when we are generally here.
Walks from House: there are multiple options to walk from the house, including Georgetown, Dupont Circle commercial district, the Potomac Riverfront, the mall and museums, Kalarama, Embassy Row, Rock Creek Park (which is a matter of steps from here).

What I love about the home

Favorite spaces for my wife and me: Bedroom: grand, spacious for a townhouse, views of city and Rock Creek Park Kitchen: eat-in area, view of backyard Backyard: really what sold us on the place. Small, easy to care for and very private. The dogwood and Chinese maple as well as neighbor's huge trees make it a self-contained place for 7 months of the year. Living Room: where we read the paper in the morning Dining Room: grand place to entertain
