Welcome to The Astro, Unit 3! Open Houses Sunday 11/17/13 from 1:00 to 4:00, or by appointment. In just a glance you can see where its name originated - the big raised star on the front identifies this eye-catching building. And this property is certainly a star of the neighborhood. In fact, being on the top floor of this 4 unit building, this unit has a nice view of West Berkeley and San Francisco Bay. How nice to kick back on the second story private deck and bask in the sunsets! There is a modern vibe to the building and the unit. Once inside, you pass by the compact kitchen, outfitted with stainless and stone. Then it's into the living room/dining area, a large bright space that has floor to ceiling windows and a glass door to the balcony. The newer hardwood floors are in great condition and the freshly applied paint colors have a stylish flair. The 2 bedrooms are good sized and separated by a cheerful bathroom. This unit, and each unit, has its own assigned off-street parking space. On the ground floor is an open common room with areas assigned for storage, and there's a coin-op washer/dryer, with proceeds going to the HOA. In back, there is a shared garden space with mature plantings and an open area. HOA dues are $200/month. West Berkeley has enjoyed a renaissance in recent years. In very close vicinity are cafes, restaurants, shopping, and transportation. Just about 6 blocks away is the excellent Berkeley Bowl West, one of the greatest grocery stores in the universe. Really. A couple blocks away are the West Side Cafe and Tomate, both great breakfast places. At the corner of San Pablo Avenue and Dwight Way is Cafe Trieste, starting a fun commercial strip with Good Vibrations, Paisan, Juniper Tree, and the Berkeley Ecology Center. For Thai food lovers, Anchalee Thai Cuisine on Dwight will be a fave. Other notables include Quince Cafe on San Pablo at Bancroft, Cafe V, Gaumenktzel, Luca, and Local 123 on the way to University Ave. 900 Grayson is known for its awesome breakfast/lunch offerings. And 4th Street shopping is a great nearby assett.
