Spanish Colonial style stucco exterior, earth plaster interior straw bale construction. Exterior walls are 2' thick making it quiet and cool. Lots of windows keep it bright and let in the beautiful views. The striking interior ceiling height is 16'. Exterior color is created by ferrous sulfate treatment and is quite striking. Good well with good water at 20 GPM. Power is provided by solar panels with wind booster, batteries and a 15KVA propane generator. The detached garage has substantial room for a shop and two cars. Panoramic 180 degree views from the surrounding deck including Escondido, several cities, and the ocean.

What I love about the home

It is quiet, cool in the summer without air conditioning and warm in the winter with using the heat. Usually we heat with only the wood stove. The views are panoramic overlooking several different communities, hills, mountains, and a view of the ocean. Beautiful sunsets are almost a daily occurrence and there is abundant wildlife including deer. There are almost no utilities, the home produces solar power and is not connected to the grid. Propane is the only outside source of energy. There a few neighbors and they are friendly and quiet. This house is built on a huge boulder and has a large crawl space making maintenance very easy. There is a solar hot water system feeding the tank-less indirect water heater, thereby saving a lot of propane. This house is off-grid living at its best.
