30-32 POST ROAD, (c1760) "Nel Slocum House", Two-and-a-half story wood Colonial, flank-gable, sitting sideways from the present Post Road, it had been originally built facing the now defunct Emmonds Avenue aka Elm Street. An ell has been added and has a Victorian entry hood. In its first days the first floor was a tavern, was owned by Remington Arnold (1762-1841), and subsequently owned by Nel Slocum who lived here with his wife Martha at the turn of the nineteenth to twentieth centuries. Horatio Nelson "Nel" Slocum was an early Pawtuxet Village fixture and oral historian. The Slocum house now has an antique store on the first floor. Plat-Lot 292-375.
