This is a rambling country-style ranch house duplex. It grew slowly from a cabin in the woods to its present size, and we've updated it with hardwood floors, insulation and quality wood and gas heaters. A house like this is always a work in progress as well as a comfy home.
Neighborhood Description
This is a rural neighborhood, a patchwork of cleared fields, redwood and live-oak forest, where people raise kids and keep a few chickens for eggs. Right across the street is an excellent elementary school, and there's a small organic farmer's market about a mile up the road. It's one of the "best kept secrets" neighborhoods of Santa Cruz, combining a short ride to town and the beach, with good commute access over the hill. Locals call it Happy Valley for good and sufficient reason. 

What I love about the home

Location! The big front and back yards, plenty of room for outbuildings. That the duplex is totally private: the tenants have separate gas, electric, mail and parking, so they bring in income but are never underfoot.
