My Notes

Welcome to this wonderful 2-story traditional home in a rapidly changing neighborhood on the Berkeley-Oakland border. This home has a great floor plan featuring 2 sunny bedrooms with ample room and closet space. The master bedroom has a huge west facing private deck. The main bathroom has just been remodeled and fits this home?s style and grace. The main floor features a friendly front porch ? a relaxing spot to watch the parade of bikes traveling up and down the ?King Street Bike Boulevard.? The gracious entry welcomes you to your new home and the open staircase adds to the drama. The formal living and dining rooms have big bay windows which allow the natural light to stream in. The kitchen has been completely remodeled and is worthy of a photo shoot for a magazine. The custom cabinets have shaker styling, ?soft close? drawer hardware, and signature crown molding. The stone counters, farmhouse sink, and new stainless steel appliances make it a real standout. The kitchen is perfectly poised between the casual family room and the back yard deck. You will enjoy seamless indoor-outdoor California living at its best with this ?Great Room.? A full laundry room, dark stained hardwood floors, new designer paint in and out complete the picture.
The backyard is a real treat. It has plenty of space to romp and play, but also room to garden and the raised veggie garden is already started for you. With off-street parking and a storage room you are all set.
As you have seen the cosmetics of this home are truly remarkable, but when you peel back the skin you find many new and updated systems ? See the list of seller improvements as they are too many to list here. The highlights though are a new foundation and roof. The work was done with permits and the Sewer, RECO, and pest report have all been taken care of. All you need to do is bring your toaster and wardrobe and start enjoying your new home!
Neighborhood Description
Berkeley Main
From miles away, people can see Berkeley, thanks to the Campanile tower on the UC Berkeley campus, rising 13 stories above the city. Created in 1868, the University of California became one of leading universities in the world and the flagship of the entire UC system. But, to really know Berkeley, you have walk the streets and meet the people that make Berkeley one of the most unique and exciting cities on the planet.
Berkeley has a rich architectural history, offering many homes from such important names as Julia Morgan and Bernard Maybeck. From the Arts & Crafts and Mediterranean bungalows in North Berkeley to the Craftsman homes in Elmwood, Berkeley probably has the perfect home for almost anyone. And, if you need help, the city?s terrific website offers easy-to-use guidance on almost everything, including permit histories, rent board issues, and even their unique ?golden duplex? rule.
The City of Berkeley really stepped onto the world stage during the turbulent sixties and seventies. When not engaging in political discourse, Berkeley citizens needed food and art, so a cultural revolution was ignited. Chez Panisse changed the world of food, Berkeley Rep sends show after to show to a national audience and 924 Gilman introduces new bands to the world.
When you want to return to your college days, you can always visit the street vendors on Telegraph Avenue, the hangouts on Shattuck in downtown Berkeley, or watch Cal defeat Stanford at the Big Game. Away from campus, Berkeley is home to many parks, from big Tilden Park up in the hills to the gorgeous marina and waterfront. Shop and eat your way through the day on Solano Avenue or in the Gourmet Ghetto. It is easy to get around town, using BART, AC Transit, or the city?s many bicycle pathways.
Whether you want to get an education, start a revolution or just be yourself, Berkeley has a way of life for everyone.

What I love about the home

o ?Very Walkable? according to WalkScore. This home scored an 86 out of 100. Sell the cars ? Ride BART and get a couple bikes! o This home is located in a rapidly changing Berkeley Neighborhood and is close to the Adeline @ Alcatraz Shopping District with all of its Shops and many Restaurants. Stroll to the Ashby BART Station, AC Transit is practically at your front door. The Berkeley Bowl is close at hand serving fine local and organic fruits and veggies (staples also) along with the new bike friendly Actual Café, and Sweet Adeline Bakeshop. Of course the regulars still eat up the block at Lois the Pie Queen!
