Here are some of the extras that might not be noticed with just one visit. Energy-Efficient and Green Features: Lighting: A great deal of thought has gone into the quality and efficiency of the lighting, with the extensive use of low-voltage lighting and sensors and the use of the light soffits. Green materials: The roof insulation is also made of green material, recycled cellulose. Water conservation: For more efficient water use, the toilets are Toto double flush, providing flush options. In addition, the landscape irrigation includes a number of drip lines, which reduces water use. The Windows: Design: The design and placement of the windows is one of the hallmarks of David Solnicks light-filled architecture. Privacy: Some of the windows are partially sandblasted for privacy or as a way of directing views upward. Energy: All of the windows are lowE , which blocks infrared radiation and heat. The Heating and Air Conditioning: Zoned radiant: The heating is a radiant system in the floor has 7 separate zones. High efficiency: The gas boiler that heats this radiant system has a high efficiency rating of 94%, instead of the more common 80%. Cooling: Instead of air conditioning, there is a whole-house fan that exchanges all of the air in the house within minutes.
