My Notes

Edit
"Redevelopment of the Nations began several years ago when the neighborhood's vacant lots caught the eye of builders and buyers alike. Sylvan Heights began its comeback more than a decade ago, when developers began replacing its tiny post-World War II Eisenhower houses with new construction. Both neighborhoods are seen as affordable by single individuals. There are other indications of a bright future for Sylvan Heights. A noisy metal fabricating plant no longer disturbs residents at night. The Nashville Ballet and the Nashville Opera Association have facilities nearby.
'It's happening all around Charlotte...' Kenner says of the area's redevelopment. The 28th Avenue Connector is beginning to change that. So would new zoning that encourages mixed use developments ' shops, restaurants and residences ' along the street."

What I love about the home

Hot growth area. Own for less than rent. Join the Renaissance in Sylvan Charlotte area. With Bus stop on corner, ride 3 miles to Vanderbilt. Walk to 3 restaurants. Adorable hip urban cottage! Great fenced back yard, lots of hardwoods, big kitchen in hot Sylvan Heights/Charlotte growth area. Adorable house, great fenced back yard, lots of hardwoods, big kitchen in hot Sylvan Heights/Charlotte growth area. An urban shopping center is planned just a few blocks away at the old Hostess building on Charlotte. According to the Nashville Ledger "Residents of Sylvan Heights, which borders the south side of Charlotte from 33rd to 40th avenues, hope the next phase of the street's renaissance will include a coffee shop, restaurants and other gathering places that neighbors can walk to...like East Nashville..The surrounding neighborhoods are popular with home buyers. 'Sylvan Heights is close enough to Charlotte to walk to places...' Charlotte and its surrounding neighborhoods are benefiting from a 'generational shift' among younger home buyers. Unlike their parents, they aren't interested in moving to the suburbs and commuting to jobs in the city. Instead, they want to live in town, close to where they work and play, says home builder Michael Kenner. "In the 60s and 70s, we abandoned our inner cities. Urban sprawl. Then cutting-edge people started redoing 11South and East Nashville,' says Kenner, who sees the same phenomenon occurring in the neighborhoods along Charlotte Pike. 'It's not just the 28th Avenue Connector' that is renewing interest in those neighborhoods, he says. 'It's the fact that people don't want to live in Smyrna anymore.'
