Neighborhood Description
We brag that this is the best block to live on in Tower Grove South because of the strong sense of community. Kids are out climbing trees, jumping rope, and playing in each others yards. Weâ??re often on our front porch as well as our neighbors allowing us opportunities to catch up. Halloween is our favorite community event with front yard bonfires, neighbors walking around with hors doeurves to share, and hundreds of kids.
We lucked out with having great neighbors. Megan and Chad live in the adjoining townhome and are both in their residency programs. We often coordinate cleaning gutters and yard sales with them. Marty is our neighbor to the east and is always generous with offering a helping hand - he is very handy!
Aside from the community spirit, we love this home because of the amazing location. For your early morning cup of coffee you need only stumble across the street to the Hartford Coffee Company. Two of our favorite restaurants are both only 3 blocks away; The Vine on South Grand and Local Harvest on Morgan Ford. It is also great to be able to do all your grocery shopping without having to drive - Local Harvest Grocery, Gustine Market, and Jays International Food are all within walking distance. In warmer months, you have to check out the farmerâ??s market in Tower Grove Park - they even host live music.
We cannot say enough about Tower Grove Park. You can jog, picnic, meet friends, attend Friday Food truck events, and bike. We consider Tower Grove Park the best backyard we could of wished for.
This home and location have some of the best perks St. Louis has to offer. It has been well loved and we are excited for the next owners to enjoy this space as much as we have.
 

What I love about the home

Welcome to 3977 Hartford Street. We were fortunate enough to buy this home three years ago and have loved living in this neighborhood. If it were not for the pull to live near family in the North West, we would stay because of all this house and location have to offer. The house offers all the charm of living in an historic home without the maintenance and upkeep that many single-family homes require. We love the large kitchen for hosting a party (people always end up in the kitchen) or for having casual meals. We updated the kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. We love the great spaces in this home that allow us to enjoy all the natural light from outside. The master bedroom is peaceful and lets in an abundance of warm light from the north and west facing windows. The front bedroom has a wonderful southern view and you can enjoy reading a good book on the attached balcony while people watching the frequenters at the coffee shop across the street. The back deck is also a great place to soak in the morning sun and stays cool even on the hot days. Out back, you can watch your garden grow in the two raised garden beds we built - the space is ready for planting! We have done well with cooler crop vegetables such as kale, broccoli, sweet potatoes, lettuce and herbs. We have some great trees surrounding the home - our favorite is the dogwood in our backyard, particularly when it blooms in the spring.
