My Notes

We are remodelors and over a 12 year period added onto and remodeled our house, completeing work about 3 years ago. The new features on exterior of the house are: vinyle siding, with a "house wrap" for added insulation on original part of house; metal roof; Milgard vinyle, double paned windows; full light doors with metal full light screen/storm doors. All the plumbing and plumbing fixtures are new, and most of the electrical has been upgraded with all new fixtures. The kitchen has custom cherry cabinets, tile countertops and splash with Italian glass decorative tiles, and plenty of recessed lighting. The kitchen and family room are an open design so that the gas fire place in the family room can be enjoyed from either area. A cherry built-in cabinet/bookself, cherry railing on the staires and cherry mantel tie together the 2 rooms. A unique feature is a custom built-in metal table with pendant lights above, nestled between the kitchen and family room. There are red and white oak hardwood foors throughout the main floor. The master bedroom and bath are upstaires with: 9' ceilings, plenty of windows for light and treetop views, a private deck, 2-9' custom bird's eye maple cabinets with drawers, huge walk-in closet, and walk-in attic access. The master bath is tile with heated tile floor, has a jetted tub, shower, custom maple cabinets, and private toilet area. The other full bath also is tile with custom maple cabinets. One of the 2 bedrooms has built-in knotty pine desk and bookshelves. The original 3rd bedroom is an office with built-in oak desk, the closet is extra deep file drawers, countertop and book shelves. Living room is a wonderful size for entertainiing, with a walnut and tile fireplace and french doors to the front porch/deck. The front entries to the house have tile floors. A "birds eye view" of the house shows plenty of trees. But with plenty of sun we have a variety of landscaping: lawn, wooded/natural area, more formal planting beds, rose garden, raised bed vegetable garden, strawberries, blueberry and raspberry bushes, a hot tub in the back yard, as well as, an enclosed storage area. The 2 car attached garage is deeper than normal.

What I love about the home

We gave a lot of thought to the addition, design and decorating of the house. Our overall concept was: to enhance the living space by keeping an easy flow from room to room while maintaining a sense of privacy; to have the tone warm and cozy, while increasing light and views; to have a cheerful, comfortable space for family and a welcoming place for friends; to do all this with a sense of style, but without being pretentious. We feel that we have achieved our goal though the use of simple, quality materials and fixtures, custom built-ins and cabinetry that allows for better use of space, usage of both natural and artificial light, color, attention to details, a few touches of the unique and artsy, and much planning and hard work. Family and friends have watched the changes over the years and have expressed pleasure with the finished home.
