My Notes

Edit
Known as the third oldest house in Amherst and called Frog Hollow Farm, this home is full of history. Among its stories is the fortification of the LR walls with bricks for use as a garrison. Its charm lies in the many original details still existing including corner gunstock posts and hand hewn beams, antique doors, a beehive oven and wide pumpkin pine floors. Two staircases, a captain's staircase in the front foyer leads to the bedrooms and a back staircase from the 3rd BR descends to the kitchen. A large center chimney supports a Rumford Fireplace in the LR, and a Franklin Front FP Insert in the DR. The totally renovated kitchen has maple cabinetry, SS appliances, recessed lighting and an island with seating. The Barn sits on a concrete foundation that has 3 garage bays and a dirt section for animals. The studio w/electricity and an available propane heater inspires the artist and artisan. Surrounded by over 3 acres of open fields, come to enjoy the great possibilities of gardening and animals and the proximity to the village library, market and schools. 10K OFFERED FOR ADDITION OF BATH ON SECOND FLOOR.
Neighborhood Description
Dating back to the 1700's, the Amherst village has beautiful antique homes, a white spired Colonial church and a restored Town Hall surrounding the Village Green. This hosts the biggest event in town, our Independence Day celebration with a parade, an art show and is highlighted by the naming of the Citizen of the Year. It's a great time to meet old friends and appreciate the heritage and contributions made by our citizenry to our amazing community.

What I love about the home

The combination of antique features and modern amenities is rare. The rooms are large, half being 14.5x 17.5. The property of over 3 acres affords the possibility of animals but it is also a short walk to the village . Besides the antique barn (46'x18') there is another building (12'x20') currently used as an artist studio but still has the components of its original use, an outhouse.
