What I love about the home
This house is like living in a piece of history. Built of solid stone from River Road Quarry and built by the Perna family of stonemasons who worked on the Washington Monument and the National Cathedral. A one-of-a-kind not just in AU Park but in all of Washington DC. The attention to detail and old-world charm are throughout the home. A hand-built fireplace features a unique and rare stonework feature. AU Park is a great neighborhood. Safe, family-oriented, and has a truly neighborhood feel. People help each other shovel snow and have social gatherings and book clubs. The home features a fenced-in yard perfect for children and/or pets to enjoy. In the rear is a privacy fenced yard with a flagstone patio for entertaining and a hot tub. The location is a great combination of city living and convenience. A high walkability score. Within a three minute walk there is grocery shopping (Shop-n-Save). Within four blocks is Wisconsin Avenue NW featuring Whole Foods, Best Buy, CVS, banks, restaurants, DC Library, any many other stores. This is a commuters dream as well. An easy walk (less than 10 minutes) to the Tenleytown/AU Park Metro station, the N, M and 30's buses. A short walk as well to the Friendship Heights Metro. If you are driving, the home has easy access to I-495 and downtown DC.
