My Notes

Frame construction with aluminum siding, built to strict Elmhurst building codes. Wood & tile floors on 1st level, Berber carpeting on 2nd level and improved basement. Larger fenced backyard perfect for children and/or pets; a and lot has a mixture of large and small trees. Two-car attached garage with sizable double-width driveway.
Neighborhood Description
"South Elmhurst" is a neighborhood of well-maintained homes; many older structures with a growing influence of newer high-end construction. Area contains highly-regarded public school system (new high school in 2004) and nationally-ranked state-of the-art library structure. Many churches and private schools nearby. Multiple local museums and private Elmhurst College are within a mile of this home. Illinois Prairie Path for bicycling/jogging is accessible a few hundred feet to the south (trail is lite at night).
Just south of this home is the Valette retail area which provides gourmet hamburger restaurant, dry cleaner service, convenience store, pizzerias, drug store, gas station & auto repair, banks, restaurants, local sports pub, office space, etc. Two public parks are within blocks without crossing a major street. Newer municipal waterpark complex is nearby on South York. Or enjoy an energizing 10+ minute walk to vibrant downtown or train service to Chicago.

Elmhurst is a US Tree Town member and huge trees abound throughout. The eclectic downtown contains numerous ethnic and American restaurants, bowling center, sports bars and pubs, multi-screen movie theatre, boutique shops, and other national & local retail establishments. The new Elmhurst Hospital complex is located under 3 miles directly south on York Street.
The Vallete retail area, public parks & pool, and an exercise path are all within easy walking distance of this home. Being centrally located in Chicagoland provides under 2.5 mile access to I-290, I-294 and I-88 interstate systems. Downtown Chicago employment/entertainment is approximately 17 miles to the east via I-290. World-class shopping is minutes away at the Oakbrook Mall, Yorktown Mall (Lombard), and Woodfield Mall (Schaumburg).
Overall a great slice of Americana...an established, highly-rated suburb with a city-like walkable lifestyle!

What I love about the home

Newer construction reduces utility costs, yet situated in an area of of stately housing; no cookie-cutter look-alike subdivisions here. Many large windows provide bright rooms and views of many large trees thru-out neighborhood. Highly-efficient floor design maximizes living space with larger closets. Wood-burning fireplace in living room. Master bedroom has private bath and walk-in closet. Deck faces east for a sunny morning coffee & newspaper, yet deck and backyard become shaded from late-day summer sun.
