My Notes

Spacious, traditional colonial with FABULOUS first floor IN-LAW means plenty of space for the family and MORE! Separate entrance AND garage space for in-law apartment with convenient handicap ramp. Apartment could also be used for professional space, guest quarters OR could easily be converted to a master suite! This lovely 5 bedroom home, set on almost an acre and a half boasts amazing gardens and a perfect back yard for entertaining! Situated on a quiet country road in desirable Hopkinton, with almost 3000 sq ft of living space, this home has been beautifully maintained by the same family for almost 35 years. The property also features spacious bedrooms, convenient mudroom, a delightful farmer's porch with swing, a wood burning fireplace, a walk up attic, and storage space galore!! Go green with solar hot water system and conserve on oil all year round! Note: Seller received multiple offers. Before the offer deadline, seller decided to sell the home to a family member.

What I love about the home

There are many things that we have loved about this home. It has been the gathering place for holidays and special celebrations. During the winter holidays we would have a small Christmas tree in the family room. Everyone would gather there to be near the fire and the kitchen. A larger tree would go in the living room with the picture window so we could see it from the outside when the lights were on. By the fire was eventually where we would all end up, from fall until spring. Easter is my favorite. We have had Easter egg hunts throughout the entire yard, front and back. The house is set back from the road enough that we have had up to 16 children looking for eggs without having any concern about the road. The road itself is a narrow but beautiful and historic road, one of the originals in the town. The location of the old Mill and lake is a short walk down the street and worth the exercise. The spring brings the blooms. There are several magnolia trees that bloom early spring and were the reason it was my mom?s favorite time of year. Hopkinton itself has grown through the years, when we were young the land around was farmland. There were times when my mom would call us in because the cows were loose and she was concerned that they would come too close. The farms are all houses now. With the Boston marathon in the spring and the coming of EMC, the town has grown exponentially so that it has become the larger community it is today. My brothers have all stayed in the town, for the excellent schools and the easy commutes. Though I did not stay in the town, this house, with its yard, porch, extra space in the apartment and with the layout it presents, has been the place where I have been able to come and stay with my own family of six.
