Neighborhood Description
Many people comment on not realizing such a nice seculded neighborhood was nestled back in the area where this home is located. The only traffic on our street comes from those who live on it. We have great neighbors who are working professionals on all sides. There are several families with children throughout the neighborhood. If you have children and use public or private schools, the best in the area and nation are the ones surrounding this home. Clermont Elementary, Mark Twain Middle School, Edison High and Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology are among the top rated public schools in the city and in some cases the state and nation. For example, Schooldigger.com rates Clermont Elementary #14 out of 1067 public elementary schools in the state of VA and USNews reported Thomas Jefferson HS ranked #3 among all High Schools in the Nation in Math and Science. Many families locate or remain in this area just to be able to send their children to Thomas Jefferson High School. Brown Academy and Burgendy Farm are both within 5 minutes and are among the very best private schools in the area and nation.

What I love about the home

After getting assigned to DC we heard several commuting horror stories and repeated recommendations to take advantage of the Metro. After being here 4 years we absolutely pass that on as our #1 recommendation when purchasing a home in DC. From this home you can walk, bike or drive to the Van Dorn or Huntington Metro Stations. Both less than 10 minutes by bike. You can avoid the traffic and parking issues at the Mark Center by jogging or biking 3.5 miles along an awesome river front bike trail or take the metro. From the Van Dorn Metro you are also very close to Crystal City (15 minutes) and the Pentagon (20 minutes). When family and friends came to visit we would often meet them at the gate and be home in less than 30 minutes thanks to the Metro stop at Reagan National Airport. When we moved in the back yard was a ski slope covered in ivy. We invested over $50K to landscape it. We terraced the yard into 4 levels that flow together and include a batting cage, volleyball court and several large auto-irrigated pet and deer proof raised bed gardens sure to satisfy anyone from hobbyist to Master Gardener. The yard backs up to a green belt where the local deer population spends most of its time. We've added a new ashpalt driveway that accommodates several cars with a spot for an RV, boat or trailer. The large, bright kitchen is showered with light during day from large window with scenic view of city over sink facing East. New Dishwasher and Gas Range. Dining room has large patio door with great view and convenient access to top level deck. Spacious, open living area with large windows. We've had several compliments on all 3 remodeled bathrooms which all have been fully redone. Much, much more to show and tell about the improvements to this property.

DC Market is recovering faster than others. There is not a comparable property at a better value in the area. The location is secluded from traffic but very close to bike trails, parks, schools, etc. Many unique features the Zestimate does not account for
